bsjkki Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 (edited) So, I have a Ring doorbell. Ring doorbells have a community alert ability to upload suspicious activity your camera picks up and ask questions or share information with other Ring users in your neighborhood or area. I scrolled through all the alerts tonight and there are multiple videos of suspicious men/women coming to people’s doors. They sometimes (at least 3 times on my feed) are our missionaries. They actually seem to freak some people out. One set knocked at 9:00 pm and the comments were funny as other neighbors explained they were missionaries but were not supposed to be knocking doors that late. Anyone else experience this? Hamba Tuhan Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Do you live in a paranoid neighbourhood? Or a scary one?

Very normal suburbs. Most reports are car robberies when the perps check for unlocked doors. I’m surprised there are people that don’t know what our missionaries look like. Now, I’ve got to go see if this is really a thing. Oh dear. *Mostly kids being kids but I didn’t watch a lot. They should show these at the MTC for training. Edited September 22, 2019 by bsjkki 1

Rain Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 We recently got a ring doorbell, but it isn't up yet. We do have quite a bit of theft (mostly deliveries) etc. In the area, which is why we got it, but overall I don't think it is a bad neighborhood. We have to laugh sometimes about the posts. So many cars going slow. My husband told me he expects to see a picture of me on it someday and will have to tell them that I was getting a picture of their house for landscaping ideas or that we were only playing Pokemon Go. 2

I’m surprised, I was not on it. I’ve been driving around taking pictures of houses with my brick as I search for exterior paint colors. 1

We have a yech grey as I think it was originally pink and they didn’t put enough coats of the grey on it, but can’t afford to paint the whole house yet. Husband used to do all the labor himself, but it would be dangerous these days. 2

Some of these smart doorbell companies even have official agreements with police departments to share footage. 2

Jake Starkey Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 We had missionaries knocking on our door in Marble Falls at 8:55 PM on a Friday night. I gave them some hot chocolate and told them to guard themselves more wisely than doing that in the dark. 1

My mother once had a dream during the only afternoon nap I ever recall her taking, that two men in suits surrounded by light were knocking on our front door. It was so convincing she woke up went out to check and was quite alarmed and animated about the whole thing. To make a long story short we had her work done for her some years later.
