My Dad was in what I can only call a "Senior Singles Ward" a few years back.

THey met in Kaysville, UT and were comprised of +45 year old single members.

Hoping their might be wards like this around Logan or Ogden UT?

I think the Kaysville Ward was dissolved since they couldn't get enough preisthood members to accept callings in EQ, EQP, etc.

Dare I ask if President Nelson might institute wards like this in more places than Kaysville?

Actually, I exaggerate a bit. There are worse situations: mime conventions, ska concerts, Trump rallies, Civil War reenactments, Wicca gatherings, North Korean prison camps, things like that. There are just not many that are worse.

I wonder what the topic for a key note speaker at a mime convention would be.

I found being senior is depressing. I didn't enjoy at all the day when I got free National Park pass.....(To offset that feeling I bought a brand new Jeep Rubicon).

An Eisenhower-era one, which makes me detest the current dominant faction as a bunch of fundamentalist quasi-fascist idiots being tolerated by the rest who are a bunch of spineless simpering sycophants.

If I thought a new car would numb the pain I would go out and buy one today. :(

Isn’t this whole mime thing kind of stupid? Why are we doing this?

I can imagine (though I think i'll always be excited about getting something for free).  From a single's standpoint, if I was 45 i'd much rather be in a ward with people in their late 30s and early 40s than where the majority is probably over 60.  I would have way more in common with them!

Do you mean the psych ward in a long-term care facility?

Or is that a distinction without a difference?

Sorry, couldn't resist.  It sounds like your dad had a good experience.  I could see how some might benefit from that.

It don't now, because I'm in Houston, waiting to hit Canyonlands, Maze, White Rim Roads....where seeing another car will be a blasphemy.....😁

That sounds like the most depressing environment imaginable.

You're comments always make me laugh outloud.

Motivation to stay married, perhaps?

Yet that is a reality for many LDS and many converts

I am not married so does not work for me.

I do remember a SA sister leader half-jokingly suggesting we invite people with a struggling marriage to come to one of our activities in hopes that when they see what their future holds if they divorce they might be motivated to repair their marriage. It is actually not a bad idea.

Perhaps instead of trying to numb the pain by buying a new car, you could attend a Senior Singles event?

Turn the tears of pain into laughter.

I go to Single Adult activities. This is my general reaction:

I do not go very often.

We discussed and approved a proposed stake single adult weekend activity in stake presidency meeting this morning. Thankfully, no one asked me if I’d be attending!

I am not comfortable questioning the wisdom of Stuart Smalley.
