For hundreds of years now we look at visuals of Christ Jesus in pictures, books, movies and he always is a european looking God Man with long hair. From my understanding at that time period short hair was the norm [ ever see those Jehovah Witness Awake and Watchtower magazines where Jesus and everyone else has perfectly cut, blow-dry, and styled GQ looking hair ? ].  I have thought if that was true the barbers in that day and age were busy cutting all day into the night. Is there any documentation either way ?. Long or short, Jesus being tall or short [ I also have been told that People at that time in that part of the world were short, men averaged 5 feet to 5 feet 5 inches tall. Just pondering. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

So nazarites were disgraceful?

I think Paul was speaking from culture, not doctrine on this.  The Roman world was into shorter hair for men -- and thus short hair could be said to be a heathen practice.

Our visuals are from European culture.  No doubt the Spanish preferred their Christ images to be black-haired and olive-skinned, and the Scandinavians preferred blond hair and pale skin.  A friend of mine, who is black, has a painting of Jesus on his wall, and the Lord in this picture is definitely African.

I suspect cultural depictions of Jesus are a matter of Whatever Floats Your Boat.  He was Jewish.  Whatever the Jews of the First Century BC or AD looked like is probably what He looked like.

Not that it matters.

He is described in the OT.

Isaiah 53:2

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

Garner Ted Armstrong of the Worldwide Church of God used to insist that Jesus wore a Roman toga and had a short Roman haircut.  He made it clear that Jesus and Joseph were businessmen, building contractors.  Whatever the case, it is true that Mediterraneanoid peoples (Italians, Jews, etc.) were short, had olive complexions, and had dark eyes and dark hair.  I thought the movie "Risen" got it somewhat right:

The GQ-looking portrayal of Joseph Smith with the blond hair and blue eyes comes to mind. Did he really look like
that?

People often make claims about Jesus like Jesus being black or this or that based on where he grew up as.  The reality is that a person's skin color,  being tall or short is usually dependent on genetics.  We don't know the genetics of Jesus.  After all, half of his DNA did not come Mary.  It came from somewhere and not from that part of the world.

You're exactly right about the DNA. So many people don't seem to get that.

In 2001 forensic anthropologist Richard Neave created a model of a Galilean man for a BBC documentary, Son of God, working on the basis of an actual skull found in the region. He did not claim it was Jesus's face. It was simply meant to prompt people to consider Jesus as being a man of his time and place, since we are never told he looked distinctive.

Well, He was able to disappear in a crowd when pursued . Baring supernatural interference , He must have been about the same as most other men. Had He been 6 ft . 6 , 250 lbs, with long red hair, the priests would not have needed a Judas to point Him out.

I’m not saying he wasn’t able to blend in, but using the need for Judas to point him out as proof that he blended in isn’t very reliable. What if he were pointing him out for the same reason a witness in a court of U.S. law would be asked to point out a murderer or something, even though everyone already knows good and well who the accused is?

Personally I have the opinion that we just don’t know what He looks like, just like Carbon Dioxide brought up about half His DNA. I personally believe that this other half is God’s DNA, and that doesn’t limit Him to looking like your typical native of that area in my opinion.

I find it interesting that Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss. He specifically told the soldiers that the kiss was the signal. Why was he not able to just point at Jesus and say," that's him, the big guy with the blond hair" ? Could it be that Jesus was standing with several fellows that were much the same in stature and look ?

Harry Potter had a cloaking blanket.  Why not Jesus?

The Book of Mormon teaches Jesus is OUR LORD and GOD, how could I disagree

2 Nephi 26:12 And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus is the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God;

2 Nephi 11

7 For if there be no Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in the fulness of his own time.

1 Nephi 11: 24 And after he had said these words, he said unto me: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men; and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him.

2 Nephi 25: 29 And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out.

3 Nephi 11:

13 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying:

14 Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.

17 Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God! And they did fall down at the feet of Jesus, and did worship him.

Mosiah 3:5 For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases.

 3 Nephi 19:

18 And behold, they began to pray; and they did pray unto Jesus, calling him their Lord and their God.

Mosiah 5:15 Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen.

2 Nephi 10:3

3 Wherefore, as I said unto you, it must needs be expedient that Christ—for in the last night the angel spake unto me that this should be his name—should come among the Jews, among those who are the more wicked part of the world; and they shall crucify him—for thus it behooveth our God, and there is none other nation on earth that would crucify their God.

2 Nephi 25:29

And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out.

3 Nephi 9: 15 “Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name.”

The Book of Helaman

Chapter 14:

12 And that ye might know of the coming of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and of earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and that ye might know of the signs of his coming, to the intent that ye might believe on his name.

I Nephi 20:1 originally read exactly like Is. 48:1 in the King James Bible. Now it reads, "...out of the waters of Judah or out of the waters of baptism." Apostle Mark E. Petersen said, "A direct reference to baptism was plainly deleted from Isaiah 48:1" (As Translated Correctly, p. 14). Petersen was attempting to show how the B. of M. helped correct errors in the Bible, but he picked a very poor example because it is the B. of M. that has been changed! Neither the Hebrew text of Is. 48:1 nor the original B. of M. support the present reading of I Nephi 20:1. Even as late as the 1888 edition of the B. of M., that phrase was not in the text. JST also agrees with original Book of Mormon and The KJV
