Second inexplicable thread banning in less than a month

This is getting to be a bad habit.

In less than a month I have been blindsided with a thread banning for no discernible reason, this time from the thread about the Masterpiece Cake Shop case.

Again, there was no explanation offered, not even the typical, cryptic "poster removed" in red at the bottom of one of the posts.

I have requested to know the reason but have not yet heard back from the administrators (I never did hear back from them on the prior occasion).

After well over a decade of posting on this and its predecessor board and after more than 23,700 posts, I'm not used to being dealt with in this way. I will give the administrators three days from this moment to get back to me with an explanation. If none is forthcoming, I will impose the only penalty available to me which is to cease contributing content to this board.

Don't leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just checked that thread to me it appears open, but I don't know diddly about American legal cases involving cake, unless Buddy from "Cake Boss" is getting sued and it's on Entertainment Tonite

On a side note, because I really really appreciate all the hard work they do. I am starting a gofundme page to set up immediate 4 day vacations for all of the administrators at any location where internet access is impossible.

While I haven’t seen any of them, this comment made me think of those trailers for all those “The Purge” movies, where in the Not-so-distant future, America designates one day and night a year where the police and law enforcement withdraw to allow citizens to do anything they want.... Bwahahahahaha.... (I don’t like those kinds of slasher movies. Ugh).

I haven’t read that thread, but to be honest Scott, you and kiwi together can evolve into personal attacks and result in very blunt and insulting comments to other posters at times.  Maybe you haven’t realized you do that, but just an honest observation.

I’ll take a look at that thread though.

Scott, I am not aware of the reason behind your banning.  Recently I have been banned from a few threads, but I can be pretty harsh and snarky.  It seems to come in phases - at times it seems there is a hypersensitive liberal administrator and other times it is just normal.  I would hope you would never leave for the reason of being banned.  To me that is a pride issue; however, there a lot of other reasons that might motivate individuals to leave.  It does seem like long time participants should be given a little leeway, but that does not appear to be the case here.

Lastly, I don't think these kinds of threads are within the policies of the Forum.  Could be wrong; I haven't memorized all the rules. Cheers, my friend.

Once you are banned from threads twice a day without any notice, no red letters, nor explanation, then you'll be caught up to me.

MOst times I have no idea what I've done wrong because no one tells me.  But when I do see red-letters it has never identified any rules I've broken.  The explanation, if ever given, has never offered any reason that applies to the stated rules.  It seems to be arbitrary and made up reasons for disciplining.

But, whatever...I figure.  I upset someone or some people I guess.

Are you sure it's not a technical glitch Scott?
I took a look at your posts over there and there is nothing that could possibly be construed as offensive or even overtly political in your statements, even by someone on the other side of that argument.  If you were thread banned it's an absolute mystery to me.  (Usually the "offensive" post is easy to spot - maybe I am just blind this time).

To be clear, it would not be just for being thread banned. It would be for banning without the courtesy of a reason being provided. I don't believe that's an unreasonable expectation.

Oh, I'm quite certain they're not, and I expect this one to be closed any moment now. But it's the only way I can feel assured this will get the attention of the administrators.

I suspected a technical glitch last time. But then, the thread I started thereafter to express puzzlement was subsequently closed. So I'm quite certain it was intentional last time. And it seems the same pattern is being repeated this time.

Well, I know all posters are equal in the sight of the Mods - no special treatment.
But you'd think they'd give long time posters the courtesy of a warning as opposed to a troll that drops by.

There's a good deal of rough-and-tumble and plain speaking that goes on here that most of the regulars have come to expect. But I disagree that I (or Kiwi, from the posts I have read from him) have been abusive.

But again, it's not just an issue of being thread banned but of having it occur without explanation.

I'm not asking for special treatment, only an explanation.

It appears to be a mention of Germany followed by more political talk. I have closed the thread because others were also doing it. We have been more lenient with politics lately but gay topics are going to require more care in what is said.

I've not seen any of those movies, but it's an interesting concept -- kind of a variation on the dystopia theme.

I just read your comments on that thread and can’t see why you’d be banned

Haven't read the thread, but these types of things really are upsetting.  I expect fairness and for participants to understand why.  I know when I have crossed the line, but when I don't crossed the line and still get banned, then I lose confidence in the Forum.  The Mods need to get together and review each other's work.  When an issue arrives like this other mods need to understand and either reverse the call - a do over - or support it.  A simple explanation can really save a lot of problems.

Welcome to my world Scott...Welcome! It seems to be a bigger deal if you get banned though..:)
