Lessor Known Speakers

You know, I really perk up when one of the "chosen ones" speak in Conference -- you know whom I mean.  Their names are in the title of topics on this forum.

But last night I was listening to the Sunday pm session to Brian K. Ashton, the second counselor of the General SS Presidency. It was a wonderful talk, and I listened to it a second time, about what we have to do to come back into the presence of the Father.  He spoke in detail about the Doctrine of Christ.

I feel this talk alone made the Conference significant (although he had to speak rather fast to stay within his time limit).  I realize that I tend to shut down on the "off" sessions of Conference, especially when the lesser knowns are speaking.  I really learned a lesson.

I am still struggling to listen to  talks by the Primary Presidency, but I'm working on it.  :(

The doctrine of Christ talk was great I like it and it's going to be my next priesthood lesson

I think the important lesson from both talks is the importance of preparation for the sacrament.  It should be the most exciting moment in our life where we are face to face with the Father.  We are making promises to Him, and He to us.

One of the critics of the church points out that we are always in need for repentance and forgiveness, so how can we deal with that?  They call it the "Impossible Gospel".  The answer is, of course, through the ordinances, and specifically the sacrament where we retain a remission of sins.

The ultimate goal is (Alma 13:12), "being pure and spotless before God, could not look upon sin save it were with abhorrence."  Our former sins no longer hold an attraction for us.  Those things which used to entice us, now we see as abhorrent.

But does it play in stereo -- or do you need two of them?

I think I have achieved both sides of the pun by speaking in a Spanish ward in English with it being repeated in Spanish every few sentences!

That is certainly lesser known speakers AND in "stereo" AND in two languages yet!

Great point. I love listening to the Beatles on headphones or in my car when you get some solo or riff from George leap into the song from several feet off to the left and gradually get closer, as if you're sat in the studio surrounded by them and he's walking over to you as his part of the song crescendos.

I also love my Bose portable speaker... but it doesn't do that.

There are few greater pleasures in life than a great track and a high quality sound system.
