Thanks for your reply.  I am glad that there is some who give that welcoming hand..realistically, we all have bad habits.

One fellow I home taught really did not want anything to do with the church. He grew up as a member, but smoked, etc.

He did want me to pray with him, and eventually he talked about visiting, but said he needed to quit smoking. I assured him he could come visit, which he did, and eventually he quit smoking too.

Does anyone here think that perhaps the WOW should not be a part of a Temple Recommend Interview?  Just curious.

The WOW as well as tithing and chastity can be used as a measure of our level of obedience and willingness to put God first by obeying his commandments. Because it is impossible to know the hearts of anyone we must unfortunately use outward expressions of obedience to determine worthiness even though they may not reflect who we really are. If we show we can be obedient to those few things it is an indication of how well we will be able to obey the covenants we keep in the Temple.

The WOW helps keep our own temples (bodies) clean for our spirits to dwell in and our living that commandment is a sign to the world of our commitment to do that as well as an expression of how well we are able to control our physical appetites. Removing the WOW from the Temple Recommend I fear would put the salvation of many in jeopardy who may have weaknesses in that area.

Not so. Caffeine acts as a stimulant in the central nervous system and as such, causes an increase in blood pressure. As has been mentioned, it causes the release of the hormones cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones have the direct effect of increasing blood pressure. The diuretic effect of caffeine is not enough to counteract the effects it has as a stimulant.

Because, as we all know, justification is by works in the LDS system.

James 2:24  "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

The justification James is talking about is the justification in front of men.  Justification in front of men yields the praise of men.  Justification in front of God is by faith as indicated by the following passages of scripture.

Quote

Romans 4:1-5 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Quote

Romans 5:15-17 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Notice how Paul says "grace to you" and not "payment to you."

Quote

Ephesians 1:1-3 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

So much for Thomas S. Monson.

That's what I am talking about too. To get a temple recommend you have to justify yourself in front of the man that is conducting the Temple recommend interview.
Only God knows your heart. If He were conducting the interview all those questions would not have to be asked.

Yes.  While I do have a Ph.D., it is not in physiology.  An online reference would be prefered.

Not sure what part you cfred.  On caffeine not being a strong enough diurectic to counterbalance the liquid intake, see http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/caffeinated-drinks/faq-20057965

For caffeine increasing blood pressure:

An online search cannot replace knowledge in a particular field.  Most, if not all, of mankind's knowledge is on the internet.  Unfortunately, it is mixed together with all of mankind's BS.  Education, acquired in the normal way, is what is needed to interpret all that is out there.  Google can be used to find information on engineering; however, it cannot be used to make one's self an engineer.

Well I don't have a PhD. I have a General Nursing and Midwifery diploma and studied physiology as part of that. Cortisol and adrenaline increase blood pressure.

Cortisol, the major human glucocorticoid, is essential for maintenance of normal blood pressure and in excess, either general or local, produces hypertension (Kelly, Mangos, et al 1998).

Here is a reference for adrenaline
