cinepro Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) If you want to see an exercise in creative thinking, I highly suggest this article: http://lds.net/blog/buzz/entertainment/general-authorities-disney-characters/#comment-64945 Because I can't be the only one who watched Frozen and thought "Hey, he's just like Elder Bednar!" when Olaf came on the screen... Obviously, they overlooked the easiest matches because they hit a little too close to home. But at least now I'll think of Troy from High School Musical every time I see Elder Ballard. Buckeye Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I've joked before that the DN has a fetish (or more likely a contractual obligation) to report on Disney at least weekly. Looks like the disease may be spreading. If you don't believe me about the DN, just check out the below articles, which are only a few of the ones published in the last few months. I'd hate to be the guy who's job it is to keep coming up with random reasons to make an article about Disney. http://www.deseretnews.com/top/3556/0/11-new-Disney-movies-to-look-for-in-2016.html http://national.deseretnews.com/article/6650/the-new-disney-device-helping-parents-keep-their-children-safe-online.html http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865648999/Disney-releases-preview-video-of-Shanghai-Disneyland-Resort.html?pg=all http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865651210/Memories-experiences-with-Disney-from-movies-to-theme-parks-to-internships.html?pg=all http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865646380/Disney-combats-autism-in-inspiring-documentary-Life-Animated.html?pg=all http://www.deseretnews.com/top/3288/0/20-Walt-Disney-quotes-celebrating-Disneyland-imagination-hard-work.html 1
ttribe Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Really surprised to see that at LDS.net. I don't imagine this going over particularly well with certain elements of the Church; including the subjects, themselves.
boblloyd91 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 None of those comparisons seemed to fit for me 1

consiglieri Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Since Disney bought out Star Wars, I think your avatar of Yoda for President Kimball works. And since Disney bought out The Muppets, too, I want to put my vote in for Sam Eagle as a dead-ringer for Elder Oaks. And though Disney has not bought out The D I c k Van Dyke show to my knowledge, I still love the comparison between President Eyring and Mel Cooley. Edited April 12, 2016 by consiglieri
cinepro Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) I'm just glad none of the Apostles bear any similarity to Judge Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. That would have made for an awkward article... Edited April 12, 2016 by cinepro
JeremyOrbe-Smith Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 On the other hand, then they'd be able to lead the MoTab choir performance at the next General Conference:

rongo Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Elder Holland and Droopy? That's Tom and Jerry instead of Disney, but still . . . For those who think that mentioning appearance similarities, just for fun, is sacreligious, lighten up! Besides --- cinepro started it years ago with his avatar . . .
Hoosier Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I don't know about a Disney character, but I always thought President Monson looked like Chief O'Hara on the old Batman TV series. (No disrespect intended. I always liked Chief O'Hara.)

The Nehor Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Uchtdorf is nothing like Launchpad. I don't think he ever crashed a single plane. He went with the conventional approach and "landed" them. Amateur......
