Bring in names for Temple Prayer Roll

Is it acceptable to bring in a list of names to the temple and put them in the prayer roll box? Or is it required to use their slips of paper and fill them out in the temple?

Call your local temple and ask them if you can bring them in.  It is a good request to make and they will have a good answer for you.

I would imagine that it would be helpful if the paper was the approximate size as the paper the temple uses.

At some time there was a sign where you turn in the names saying that one shouldn't bring in long lists. I don't remember the wording. So sometimes I put the "Jones family" or "Smith family" rather than putting in individual family names.

I think the idea was just to keep it reasonable to one's you know, like not listing the whole ward out of the directory or some such.  Personally, the pattern shown everywhere else would encourage the use of full names, middle included if you know it.  But that's just my opinion.

It's been many years now maybe things changed, but I was the endowment directory first shift in the Provo Temple and one duty of that position was to rotate the names before the first shift workers prayer meeting.  I enjoyed and remember that better than any role I have preformed in the temple.  Lights still out on the third floor, no one around for two floors.  I had some wonderful experience there.  As to the OP within reason it does not matter the size of paper or multiple names on a given sheet.  The small slips are for saving paper, of course with the intent of a few.  With six rooms and six days open, a new bundle from the recorders office is inserted into say room 1, the bundle that was in room one is moved to room 2.  These process continues until room 6, where that bundle is returned to the recorders office.  I'd seen papers of all sizes in those bundles as I moved them from room to room.

Very cool, those names will hit every room in the temple and be prayed for at solid week.  At least so it was in the Provo Temple pushing 20 years back.

If you have close friends here you can ask them via PM, but listing names of others who seem improper. One can always call the Temple and ask for names to be added to the rolls. Not all are here that may do so.

Perfectly acceptable Id assume.  My mother even calls sometimes and has a Temple worker add names to the list.

I wonder why they don't just make an online name submital portal.

Noticed Orrin Hatch filling out a slip of paper for the prayer roll box this morning at the DC Temple.  It's always nice to see a US Senator worthy willing to attend the temple.

Thanks for your responses guys.

The reason I was asking was I wanted to know if we could compile a list of names in our Elder's Quorum Presidency meeting and drop it in the box when one of us goes to the temple rather than having to write them down at the temple. From your responses I'm presuming this is acceptable.
