A Warning From The Prophets

If you will not pay your tithing; if you will not live the gospel and live temple worthy; if you will not follow the prophet and live according to that which Jesus Christ has revealed through His Latter-day prophets, you are well advised to read every word of this post carefully.

Anyone not worthy of eternal life when they die will experience the pains of hell, the most excruciating of all pain. They will be in hell with Satan and his angels for well over a thousand years until they are resurrected at the end of the millennium.

As Alma said to his son, “There shall be weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth, and this because of their own iniquity, being led captive by the will of the devil. Now this is the state of the souls of the wicked, yea, in darkness and a state of awful, fearful looking for the fiery indignation of the wrath of God upon them; thus they remain in this state, as well as the righteous in paradise, until the time of their resurrection.”

Jacob told the Nephites, “Wo unto him that has the law given, yea, that has all the commandments of God like unto us, and that transgresseth them, and that wasteth the days of his probation, for awful is his state!

“O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.

“Therefore remember, O man, for all thy doings thou shalt be brought into judgment.”

King Benjamin told the Nephites, “Therefore if that man repenteth not and remaineth and dieth an enemy to God, the demands of divine justice do awaken his immortal soul to a lively sense of his own guilt, which doth cause him to shrink from the presence of the Lord and doth fill his breast with guilt, and pain, and anguish.”

Abinadi spoke of those who receive “the resurrection of endless damnation, being delivered up to the devil, who hath subjected them, which is damnation— Having gone according to their own carnal wills and desires; having never called upon the Lord while the arms of mercy were extended towards them; for the arms of mercy were extended towards them, and they would not; they being warned of their iniquities and yet they would not depart from them; and they were commanded to repent and yet they would not repent.”

As Lehi said to his sons, “Look to the great Mediator and hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit; And not choose eternal death, according to the will of the flesh and the evil which is therein, which giveth the spirit of the devil power to captivate to bring you down to hell that he may reign over you in his own kingdom.”

Alma characterized what will happen at the last day to those who are not worthy of eternal life, which includes those who will not give heed to Jesus Christ’s prophets in these latter days, “In this awful state we shall not dare to look up to our God; and we would fain be glad if we could command the rocks and the mountains to fall upon us to hide us from his presence.”

If you will not pay your tithing; if you will not live the gospel and live temple worthy; if you will not live according to that which Jesus Christ reveals through His Latter-day prophets, then I would ask what Mormon asked, “Do ye suppose that ye shall dwell with him under a consciousness of your guilt? Do ye suppose that ye could be happy to dwell with that holy Being when your souls are racked with a consciousness of guilt that ye have ever abused his laws?

“Behold, I say unto you that ye would be more miserable to dwell with a holy and just God under a consciousness of your filthiness before him, than ye would to dwell with the damned souls in hell.

“For behold, when ye shall be brought to see your nakedness before God, and also the glory of God and the holiness of Jesus Christ, it will kindle a flame of unquenchable fire upon you.”

Well, if that was going to be your GC talk if you were called to replace one of the recently passed apostles, that would have done more to help the critics cause than anything we critics do. I guess maybe the brethren are inspired after all.

You Mormons are going to run Tony off. I think he is a breath of fresh air...

Well, he's hardly representing Church members at their best with this kind of silly rhetoric and questionable doctrine.

But lest I be accused of mocking his beliefs, he has every right to them.  But they aren't in keeping with Church approach.
