Some of the early brethren speculated that the Holy Ghost would be the last child born to mortality. There being a "last" implies a finite number pertaining to this world.

My own speculation is that spirit children are conceived/created (though I quite doubt it is viviparous). As we grow and develop a particular "graduating class" is brought to council and given opportunity to assign themselves to a world -- same as was done with previous worlds and as will be done with later worlds. Such implies that there have been and will be numerous "Grand Councils".

Though, just now I had the thought occur to me as I was curious about the third part. I wholly reject that third part approximately equals 1/3 but for that to work there would have to be two other divisions. Perhaps division 1 = God's plan is great and we are ready to go and division 2 = God's plan is great, but I think I need more time, maybe the next world and division 3 = God's plan isn't for me, Lucifer's sounds better.

While not required for the above speculation, I also hold that the "third part" is anomalous and unique to our world. To be otherwise just makes no rational sense to the doctrine of the plurality of worlds.

Does this mean that when Satan was cast down to earth with his followers, that this was only in our generation or this Earth or does it mean that they went to all the inhabited earths?

If the Atonement happened here for all earths, as we had some of the worst...does that mean that the Millineum and binding of Satan and eventual fall of Satan will also affect other earths respectively?  Or will they have similar but different processes/timelines to fight evil?  Is Satan particular to this generation and this Earth or leading those fallen on other earths?

You said that Jesus goes to the other earths to bring atonement to them as well.  Does this mean that the war in heaven continues untill all earths are cleansed or will it be finished here for all the other earths?

"But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you."

Moses 1:35

The answers to any of your questions would be pure speculation.

I think it could work both ways, where many earths could accommodate one generation, and one earth could accommodate many generations until the Lord determines it has filled the measure of its creation. Jesus could save all these worlds and generations based on His works in this one, and minister to all these worlds directly or through His servants on those worlds, while different “satans” and followers could also operate in them. At the same time, there may be a point where another First Born of another generation or set of generations could carry on the same work as we see going on here.

I think it boils down to the same plan, process and choice of outcome for everyone.

In my opinion when Lucifer offered a counter-proposal and refused to participate in God's plan there wasn't much punishment other than he and his followers were denied (by their choice) participation. It was, however, when Satan sought to disrupt the Plan by persuading our primal parents to partake of the fruit before they were ready that Lucifer drew further punishment and "eat the dust of the earth" is code for (among potentially other things) that he and his followers lost the right of free travel and are bound to this, and only this world.

In addition to my comment above, I will note that I do not think Satan is necessary for us to do evil. I do not think he is necessary to the plan. He entices opposition but he most decidedly does not create it.

As for the Atonement, ksfisher correctly points out that we have only information about this world. I personally suspect (this is not orthodoxy) that there are multiple Christs and multiple Godheads (one for each world or small subset of worlds with Heavenly Father being part of all of them). Part of the reason I suspect that is that we are not the first world, not by a long shot. Would everybody on those worlds have to wait for the Atonement to receive their resurrection? If our Atonement was meant to apply to all worlds, why then not do it with the first world (potential answer: had to wait for a world bad enough to actually crucify their Christ (us), though I don't find that a very satisfactory answer)?

Didn't say that. Don't say it now. But it bears repeating that we do not know how it works in the larger scheme of things.

PS: It should be noted that little of the above is the orthodox/communal opinion current among the membership of the Church but is my own thoughts on the matter.

I am very appreciative to all of you that help me to better understand, and take the time and consideration to answer these questions as forthrightly as possible....

gratefully,

wb

PS..when I said "you"...I meant one of the responders above specifically JAHS in regards to Jesus visiting the other worlds...I was trying to integrate a lot of information from different sources and see if I could understand.

Understood. No problem. The quote button helps clarify some potential confusions but it's not usually an issue. As you can see, there are a diversity of opinions out there and premortality, plurality of worlds + Atonement, and such is not really well established thought in LDS theology beyond the idea that such concepts exist.
