JAHS Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 There's a way to do it, Rather than wait for a revelation from God let's just take a vote on it. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/religion/presbyterians-vote-to-allow-gay-marriage-by-whopping-3-1-ratio/2014/06/19/145da9fa-f7fd-11e3-8118-eae4d5b48c7d_story.html
strappinglad Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Well, if we are going to vote on stuff, here are my suggestions: 1. The block be reduced to 2 hours 2. Tithing be reduced to 5 % ...of your tax return 3. Scouting be eliminated in fairness to the YW program 4. Professional custodians be hired I predict that more of these types of votes will take place in congregations all over the US.
thesometimesaint Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I'd add in:Repeal the WoWAllow nonmembers to participate in the Temple.Throw out all this Theosis stuff.
Avatar4321 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I am glad we don't vote on doctrine. I may not always have the ability to live it personally, but i like the fact that the Lord gives us standards.
The Nehor Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I'd add in:Repeal the WoWAllow nonmembers to participate in the Temple.Throw out all this Theosis stuff. You will NOT take away my access to unlimited power.
thesometimesaint Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 You will NOT take away my access to unlimited power. I just want to give it to everyone right now. No more waiting around to become like God. Now where did I put my lightning bolts?
JAHS Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 I'd add in:Repeal the WoWAllow nonmembers to participate in the Temple.Throw out all this Theosis stuff. "repeal the WOW" Would you settle for going back to using wine for the sacrament?
thesometimesaint Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 "repeal the WOW" Would you settle for going back to using wine for the sacrament? I don't see the point of limiting it to just the sacrament. I don't see the point of drinking alcohol to excess either. But the occasional glass of wine with a meal shouldn't be a problem either.
Storm Rider Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The Presbys have changed their constitution, or in the process of doing so to accommodate the desires of man. Hmm, this is a church that has been consistently declining over the last many years; do they think that this will save their church? Why?
Nofear Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Our local town Presbytarian pastor is rather upset by the vote and not sure how to handle it. He is confident that it will cause some loss in membership.
Damien the Leper Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 "repeal the WOW" Would you settle for going back to using wine for the sacrament? Do as Jesus did. This is partially why LDS sacrament isn't a valid communion. It's just bread and water with pseudo-pneumatic presence nonsense. Too bad the Calvinists and Lutherans were the ones to ruin the Eucharist first but that is to be expected. Western churches...oops! I mean communities.
