Anakin7 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Recently I found out a LDS friend of mine from a # of years ago who was a very orthodox and very well versed in LDS Scriptures and other LDS material was recently excommunicated from the Church for reading and promoting/asking questions about the book by Denver Snuffer - "Passing the Heavenly Gift". My friend from my understanding is not anti LDS and still attends Church with his wife and holds on to fundamental True LDS Doctrine. I do not know all the details of what happened, I have briefly got in communication with him and in the future will listen to his trial of Faith. He was and still is as far as I can tell/say a good man. I am only going by knowledge that I know little about. Perhaps F.A.I.R can review this book. When his views differ from those of the Brethren, the Brethren are wrong.3. His version of church history is the correct one. 1

He showed up with his family, demanding that his wife and children be in attendance. The reasons he gave, as I was able to understand them, seemed like some sort of passive-aggressive mishmash of giving his children an opportunity to see how true revelatory priesthood power operates in the church, while at the same time being in total opposition to his bishop. I'm as good of an armchair psychiatrist as the next guy over, and it's pretty dang obvious the guy is a few stripling warriors short of an army of Helaman. His companies of ten only have eight members each. The elevator in his church office building is missing buttons for the fourth and eighth floors. His genealogy skips a generation here and there. Do any of you have that one crazy uncle who keeps his basement stocked with butane and calls you up at 3am to borrow your car keys? Yeah, like that. You can be energetic, knowledgeable, brilliant, articulate, persuasive, and of very high IQ, and still be unvarnishedly ape-crap crazy. People who don't understand this, sometimes to end up listening to folks like Denver Snuffer. I hope I get a chance to have lunch with the man someday. I enjoy listening to the guy in my ward who converts his income into U.S. Gold Eagles, and then pays tithing based on how many "One Dollar" eagles he has at the end of the year. From the very beginning there was always a sense of discomfort that at first I couldn't put my finger on but much of his material was meaningful so I hung in there as an observer. I do not think he intended to become the Nehor (no insult intended to Nehor) or Korihor that he has become. I'm am willing to accept that he has had many spiritual experiences. However, with his last book the discomfort I felt in his subtle attitudes was uncloaked and it became apparent he has become apostate and deceived. On his website he recently posted the letter he wrote the first presidency to appeal his ex'ing. It was essentially a threat that how they voted in this matter, if they choose to uphold the Stake presidents decision, would be a condemnation of themselves and would result in a judgment against the church. 1
