Did Joseph Smith Correct All The Easter Account Descrepancies?

Gave a talk in Sacrament today, that made me wonder if in his writings Joseph corrected all the Descrepancies in the four accounts of Easter. He corrected the account to make it clear that there were two angels, but what about the others?

Well some are corrected by JST footnotes, but the accounts vary as to where for example Christ appeared to Mary and when Peter and John were at the tomb, and the initial reaction of the Brethren, and it is unclear how many women were with Mary, so I am wondering if Joseph wrote anything else about those Descrepancies.

No.... you still have to piece together the story in the Inspired Version.

He made one interesting correction in the JST regarding the appearance of Jesus to Mary at the tomb

In the KJV Jesus said to Mary:  "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father."(John 20:17)

The Greek form of the phrase "touch me not." or "me mou haptou", should be more correctly translated as "do not keep on holding me" or "stop clinging to me."

Some Bible translations give the meaning as "Do not cling to me any longer," or "Do not hold me any longer." In her joy of seeing Him again Mary was probably already holding on to Jesus when He said this and He was just telling her that she had to let Him go so He could report to the Father.

Interestingly enough, this has been rendered as "detain me not" in subsequent translations.

Not just the discrepancies concerning the Resurrection, the whole timeline of events from trial to scourging to crucifixion to resurrection is a hodgepodge of varying Pro-Roman, Anti-Jewish, Romano-apathetic, Anti-Sanhedrin-but-Pro-Jewish-People, Jesus-as-Distressed, Jesus-as-Stoic viewpoints. I suspect the clearer picture will come with more revelation concerning the matter.

Wait... four different accounts of the same event? Something as significant as a resurrection and they can't even get the versions right. Surely this is evidence that it didn't even happen at all...

 

(At least if we follow the first vision naysayers' logic)

Had not read or heard that, although I do remember some GA writing that the problem was that Mary was His wife and that the touch or hug or whatever that was about to happen was like that of a wife about to hug her returning husband.  Wish I had known of this translation for my talk, as it would have fit wonderfully.

No Canard, all the elements of the event are there, they are just moved around a bit.  The essential elements besides the resurrection itself are:  1) the angel(s) announce to Mary that He is risen after she sees the empty tomb, 2) He first appears to Mary, 3) Mary is the first special witness of the resurrected Christ; and 4) the 11 do not initially believe her or Christ, but He proves Himself to them.  Its just when and where each occur that vary.
