I'm an organ donor so I like this idea so much. Need to put this in writing! My family won't complain, more money in their pockets. And I like the tree pod idea and to keep me company.

There is a place on your driver's license as well just in case they aren't around in a timely manner...sounds kind of morbid, but I look on it as anything that makes it easier for them so they don't have to be the ones making the decision at the time.

That's true, I do have it on my driver's license. Hopefully they'll use up the good parts leftover, or use for research.

Btw, I do remember a time the church frowned on cremation. Something about our not being able to find out bodies when we're spirits, or something like that.

I found a place that costs $800 after taxes but I think I should at least have a plaque somewhere. I don't recall the costs for that. One location has a wall with small slots in it for $500 each but the place is rather far away from the City.

Really? As knowledgeable as McConkie was, and I deeply respect him. His Mormon doctrine is more appropriately called McConkie doctrine.

I believe it's wrong, but not that God will have any difficulty.  I just think God has prescribed burial as the correct method based on his scriptural allusions.  And that his saints should follow that.

But certainly not because of some nonsense about God not being able to resurrect a cremated body.  Everyone will be resurrected (except perdition) and millions have been cremated.

Not so, even perdition will be resurrected

It is true that Mormon's Heaven is other Christianities hell.

Described as "Eternal Burnings", cremation is like an appetizer

Symbolism smimolism. It is all about the costs.

cost shmost, it is all about the wishes of the dying.

well, since I am the one dying...

If a person dies and wants to be buried but does not leave the funds to do so (in Vancouver you are looking at $30,000-$100,000) then their wishes become moot. My personal opinion is that spending money on a burial is a gross misuse of funds that should be left to the spouse or children. If they don't need it, it should be given to a greater cause. Some wishes should go unpaid.

The church still isn't all that happy about cremation.  Handbook 2 contains this:

The Church does not normally encourage cremation. However, if the body of an endowed member is being cremated, it should be dressed in temple clothing if possible.

And the instructions for dedicating a grave include this:

If a Church member’s body is cremated, the presiding officer may use his judgment in determining whether to dedicate the place where the ashes are kept. He takes into account the desires of the family, local customs, and local laws. If the place is dedicated, the priesthood holder may adapt the instructions for dedicating a grave.

So, it's OK, just not encouraged.

Who else wants their body launched into space like Spock's in that Star Trek movie?

I'd much rather have the whole body "buried at sea" (feed to the fish)

The Spirits of those that rebelled in their First Estate in Heaven were cast out. They will never received a physical body, but will be vessels of wrath forever. Only those that received a body in their Second Estate will receive a physical body, and though in outer Darkness will have power over those that don't have physical bodies.

I'm not sure what you are pointing out here.  Everyone will face judgement, which follows resurrection, some head to the nurtering center then off to tel/ter, others pick up their sweeties and head off to cel and the likes of me are cast out.

That is a funky scripture with my now new power of all those vessels of wrath and does tend to disagree with the whole potters clay concept.  I suppose the potters clay concept would require the dissolution of all those nasty vessels as well?
