It is inferred that Gabriel is Noah. A lot of LDS suspect Raphael is Enoch and that the other archangels are Abraham, Moses (he should stick with being called Metatron), Peter, and Joseph Smith.

I know this thread is focused on those who are considered "angels" - Noah/Gabriel, Adam/Michael, Raphael/Enoch.Other name changes in scripture are equally interesting: Shem/Melchezidek, Paul/Saul, Jacob/Israel, Abram/Abraham. When we consider the ordinances of the temple as well as the doctrine of adoption it seems like having multiple names and acquiring new names as we progress spiritually is a standard practice. We consistently acquire names throughout our existence. Another example would be a wife taking her husband's last name eternally when she is sealed to him.We take upon ourselves the name of Christ figuratively when baptized, but eventually when Christ "seals us His" perhaps we will literally gain his name. (Someone told me that's where "christening" came from - "Christ ending").Anyway, speculative, but fascinating.

In my admittedly not comprehensive look at the names of the (usually seven) archangels only Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael seem to stay the same consistently. The other names vary a lot between sources.

We may accept that Noah = Gabriel, and perhaps Enoch = Raphael, but that doesn't come up much... at least that I can remember. Perhaps LDS are the only group(or one of very few) that believe angels are not a different species than man.
