Shouldn't The New Movie Noah Actually Be Called Gabriel?

Remember that Noah, in addition to having the archangelic name of Gabriel, is also sometimes known as Elias.

I understand that Elias is a title rather than a name.

That's my understanding too - Elias is a title meaning forerunner (or one who prepares the way).  Noah, John The Baptist and even Joseph Smith have been referred to as an Elias.

Of course, the exception to this is when Elijah (his actual name) is translated as Elias in the New Testament.

Just Mormons, but I don't think it's an official teaching. The new movie Noah wasn't made by Mormons.

Even if we did, not calling it Noah would insure confusion and failure to reach a winder audience.

I thought Enoch was Metatron.

I think it is possible that Metatron is a title, I have heard others speculate that Joseph Smith is Metatron.

I should've said: "Remember that Noah, in addition to having the archangelic name of Gabriel, is also sometimes known by the title of 'Elias.'"

Wrench:

Fundamentalist Mormons and a very few mainstream Mormons believe Joseph Smith was the Holy Ghost living out his probation.

This link shows that the belief exists.

I know the Fundamentalists still believe it. I am sure it is extremely uncommon among mainstream members.

As a side note, it is fascinating to me that the LDS view angels as human spirits.

Close. We believe angels are resurrected humans.

Close... All sorts of angels appeared prior to any spirits being resurrected! There fore we are back to Angela being good old human spirits in varying states of spiritual-physical condition.

This is completely new to me. I'd never heard of Joseph Smith being one of the arch angels.

I always find the "winder" audience a hard one to reach :-)

Winder, that is a town, northeast of Atlanta, where I am. :) I hate when this IPAD takes over..."wider", hope I got that right. But keep in mind it could confuse "Winder" as well, there in the buckle of the Bible Belt. :)

Winder Farms has the best milk...rather ridiculously priced, but still worth it with delivery to the door.

I thought Metatron was part of the Transformers universe.... boy am I in the dark on this stuff.

That is Megatron. In the book of Daniel we read the story of the final battle between Metatron and Megatron at the end of the world.
