An article about this particular case explained how the bill came to be as much as it was. It's because the hospital has to offer 'deals' to different insurance companies where they get so much of a percentage off of the cost of different services. In this story, for example, the man's bill was reduced to 21,000 and some change right off the bat because of the deal that his insurance gets when one of its customers uses that particular hospital. Medicare get's a special deal. Medicaid get's a special deal, etc. etc. So even though you can buy that particular rattle snake anti-venom online for $750 a vial, the hospital charges WAY more to ensure that after all the deals are done, they are still making money.

And also explains why the United States has the worst per capita health care spending rate in the world. Insurance companies are wasted money. They don't produce anything. They also are able to collectively bargain their prices down so only 'union members who pay their dues' get the discount. It is basically the antithesis of a free market but if we get rid of it I am told the commies will force in socialized medicine and we will all die and pay more (they never say more then who as we pay more then anyone else in the world).

Notice the scriptures didn't specify ' deadly ' snakes. Behaviors as these verge on the temptations Satan gave to Jesus. Drinking " Kool-Aid " on purpose can be hazardous to ones health.

I completely agree that Insurance has become it's own beast in this country. It is so incredibly interconnected to our health care system though (from what we pay to the salaries of dr.'s) that it would take a very skillful hand to separate them without doing more damage. One of the reasons that the US has the amazing medical technology that it does is because there is so much money to be made in the field. If we take greed out of the equation, and expect people to spend all those years in training and research, and money of their own developing such things, out of the goodness of their heart, how long before we are all going to Russia or China because their medical advances are so much better than ours? I don't pretend to know how it would all work out, but i think it could be a disaster for the US if done wrong. And the government pretty much always does these kinds of things wrong.

I wonder how this person's faith was viewed by his peers because he was killed?You may be able to find it online, but there is an amusing song recorded by in the 60''s recorded my a local Pastor named Wendy Bagwell called "Here comes the rattlesnakes". That speaks about a real life experience on this topic...it is awful what happened when false doctrine comes from a single comment in all of scripture, something that does exist in the southern smokey mountains. The difficult thing is some people will have their faith shaken while others will say the Pastor did not have enough faith.
