FWIW, we finally had our lesson on Noah's flood yesterday, and the scope of the flood wasn't specifically mentioned (although it was implied as being worldwide).

Lucky for me I teach primary and the kids still are in the belief that it was global, so i got to just reafirm the truth.

Who said the following:

"Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day"

Matt. 19:"And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,"

Exodus was composed my multiple anonymous authors over the course of many years. Matthew was composed by an unknown author, likely basing the account off of Mark and the "Q" source.

No it's an example of what happens to the message when it's not taken as it was intended to be taken. When something is taken non-literally, when it was intended to be taken literally, the message is undermined. This principle is true even when applied to moral teachings of don't hit others.

How could the Old Testament have been intended as a literal history? It was written by a people with no concept of historicity.

Is it possible to be desciplined for actually teaching church doctrine correctly?

How so?

You first stated you believed the Bible to be literal fact. You then stated that dinosaurs and man were contemporary's. Then you stated that dinosaurs breathed fire. Repeat the bible is literal fact. Dinosaurs and man were contemporary's and breathed fire. Repeat, Repeat ... .

Do you know that even the scriptures speak of dinosaurs/dragons who breathed fire?

14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

18 By his aneesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.

21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.

They also speak of a seven-headed hydra dragon with lots of crowns and horns and about how God slew the monster/dragon of primordial chaos to create the world. Does that mean there actually was a dragon of primordial chaos?

Of course there were. Why else make a magic ring that made one invisible?

On both points we disagree. Who said those statements? God. That is what it states. Obviously this isn't something you believe and that is fine.

A. There was no death before the fall of all the creation

B. Dinosaurs were part of the creation

C. Dinosaurs are mentioned in scripture

D. There was a literal global flood

E. There are dinosaur tracks in the post flood world

So, when I add A+B+C+D+E I thus conclude that dinosaurs and man were contemporary.

So you think the description of the Leviathon in Job is of a mythical creature? It appears to me that the verses are descibing an actual known beast of their time.

Well, it's not a matter of opinion that the scriptures were not literally written by God. When humans are in the mix all bets are off.

Unless there is a gambling addict involved.

There is no reason to accept the bible as literal fact... as such the rest of your logical & literal gymnastics become unnecessary.

So God is just mythical? Well then throw out all moral law and lets party!

Hardly so my friend.

Your first sentence contains two non-sequiturs. It does not follow that not taking the Bible literally means that God is mythical, and it does not follow from either statement that anyone needs to throw out their morals.

Yay for more Latin!

Ancient Greeks believed that Mars(the God of War) built the lightening bolts thrown by Zeus.

A. The ancient Greek Gods were immortal.

B. Lightening bolts are part of creation.

C. Lightening bolts are mentioned in ancient Greek scripture.

D. There was no literal global flood some 5000 years ago.

E. There are no dinosaur tacks from a post flood world.

So when you add A+B+C. Zeus threw lightening bolts built on the planet Mars. I'm convinced by your such impeccable logic I'm going to renounce my membership in the Church and start worshiping Zeus.

Does the recognition of the fact that the female Praying Mantis and the female Black Widow eats their mates somehow support human cannibalism?

A huge fire-breathing sea dragon that sneezes lightning? That is what the scripture describes.
