maklelan Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 The Daily Show interviewed Matt Slick as part of a piece on homosexuality. Somehow he didn't realize they were making fun of him. See here.
maklelan Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Evidently CARM thought it was a serious segment on "The Intolerance of Tolerance." They even advertised it on their FB page:
mfbukowski Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Blessed Bovine!Hilarious stuff. Can't figure out how they nailed him so well!
Kenngo1969 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Blessed Bovine! Blessed Bovine! = Holy Cow! ??? Good one! 1
Buckeye Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Absolutely hilarious. My favorite part was when Matt claimed to be persecuted for his "religious orientation." I'll have to work that expression into some conversation this week. Also, Matt has posted about the experience on CARM - http://C***.org/matt-slick-daily-show - but the post was written before he saw the final product.
Avatar4321 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I feel kind of bad for him. Even despite how he's treated us over the years.
SeekingUnderstanding Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I feel kind of bad for him. Even despite how he's treated us over the years.Do a video search for Matt Slick and Mormon and you probably won't feel bad for him much longer.
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) First of that Rawstory web site is pure poop. 2nd I guess he (Matt Slick) doen't know that much about the daily show. I mean, they sure made him look like a total idiot which partly he did on his own. I don't know weather to laugh or cry. I mean this is really really bad. Edited June 18, 2013 by Mola Ram Suda Ram

crixus Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 If I were an Evangelical shooting for credibility, I'd have my name legally changed from "Matt Slick."
altersteve Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Interviewer: "At what point has your right to express yourself been infringed upon?"Slick: "......."I laughed.
morgan.deane Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) The Daily Show interviewed Matt Slick as part of a piece on homosexuality. Somehow he didn't realize they were making fun of him. See here.I've said before that the critics at CARM show such over earnestness and zealotry that they become walking self parodies. Edited June 19, 2013 by morgan.deane 4

Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Slick has since updated his post with comments about how it was edited. That is the part that gets me. I know they edited it and lead him to believe it was for something else. I mean I can't say I have a whole lot of repsect for Slick, but I don't think they were quite upfront with him and I actually think this says more about the media than Slick. Cobalt-70 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Obviously they were dishonest, and I disagree with that, but Slick had an idea it was coming. It's hard to believe that a guy such as this, especially one who has his own talk show, would actually think that the Daily Show wants to interview him about his homophobic views, but not for the purpose of allowing him to make a complete fool of himself. Don't these guys have any cultural awareness? Do they think the Daily Show is a real news show? Obviously, if this were a real news show, I imagine there might be journalistic ethics considerations, but this is more akin to Punk'd than to NBC Nightly News.
Vance Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So, basically, Matt Slick got "Slicked" by the Daily Show. (In other words, he got treated the same way he treats Mormons). LOL!!!!! 2
williamsmith Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Ya, the irony of that is funny. When you cherry-pick, misrepresent, take things out of context, you can make anything and anyone "monster" or false. If Matt only understood that he does the same exact thing to Mormonism that Comedy Central did to him. What is sad to me is how much bigotry looks normal. I think this is the first time I've actually seen Matt Slick, and he actually seems decent and reasonable. One would never imagine the vile he produces in print. 1
