My meaning in "worldwide organization" was a manmade organization. I have no doubt Satan and his minions are very active in spreading evil and loss of freedom.

In this regard, make sure you read and consider the last paragraph of my previous post. Also consider the following:

Please note President Benson's reference to the aforementioned Ether 8, wherein Moroni prophesied of the great worldwide secret combination of the last days that would attempt to destroy freedom throughout the entire world. Observe how President Benson not only warns that Moroni's prophesied worldwide secret combination of the latter-days not only existed in 1988, but said even then that it "seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world."

It doesn't get much plainer and more unambiguous than that: According to President Benson, Moroni's prophesied great secret combination of the last days was already in operation back in the fall of 1988, and, according to his own forthright prophetic description, it was even then worldwide in scope and penetration.

To play devil's advocate , according to Pogi's quotes, there has been and continues to be a conspiracy of evil men to control the banks and the monetary system since the days of Thomas Jefferson etc. Well, they seem to have done a marvelous job of improving the lives of millions of people over the last 100 years despite such control. I can look today at the hovels that my grandparents and their society lived in and the mortality / death that they faced , compared with that of the average person today. Freedom of movement alone is many orders of magnitude greater. With the advent of the internet , freedom of speech is out of control. if the controllers have any intelligence at all, they know that the way to keep getting wealthier is to increase the wealth of many so that they can pick more pockets of more money , not to enslave the populace . Russia found the downside to having only a rich elite .

With the passing of an additional 25 years since President Benson sounded the word of warning to "awake to a sense of our awful situation" (Ether 8:24), it would seem reasonable to conclude that the conspirators have even further entrenched themselves into our institutions and society. Therefore, further exposing them at this point in the Lord's timetable could be extremely unwise to the cause of Christ and hazardous to the Saints.

Speaking of the enemies of the Lord in his day, Joseph Smith explained well the similar situation in which we now find ourselves and how to move forward as a Church in prudence, wisdom and safety:

"Our lives have already become jeopardized by revealing the wicked and bloodthirsty purposes of our enemies; and for the future we must cease to do so. All we have said about them is truth, but it is not always wise to relate all the truth. Even Jesus, the Son of God, had to refrain from doing so, and had to restrain His feelings many times for the safety of Himself and His followers, and had to conceal the righteous purposes of His heart in relation to many things pertaining to His Father's kingdom. When still a boy He had all the intelligence necessary to enable Him to rule and govern the kingdom of the Jews, and could reason with the wisest and most profound doctors of law and divinity, and make their theories and practice to appear like folly compared with the wisdom He possessed; but He was a boy only, and lacked physical strength even to defend His own person; and was subject to cold, to hunger and to death. So there you have it. Apparently, in 1988, conditions were acceptable to expose Moroni's prophesied worldwide secret combination of the last days. But today's leaders, in wisdom, now hold their peace. But some of you may ask why I dare to expose these things on this board? It's because the vast majority who participate on here won't at all believe what it is I have to say. After all, why would anyone believe me, when all I am is a lowly assistant ward clerk?

Ha, ha... I might be willing to exchange my notes for something of real value.

The funny thing is, there is nothing "Federal" about those notes, neither is there a "reserve" to back up the notes.

I only wish there was a true Federal Reserve making real federally printed notes with real reserves of gold backing them up. Why the government continues to pay interest to a private bank when they can print their own money interest free is besides me!

I think we all agree that Satan is having great success in his work. Some day the church of the devil will fall. My guess is that the increasing availability of information will make it more and more difficult to keep conspiracies secret. I believe this trend will help bring about the fall of the church of the devil.

Today the brethren are not as vocal or perhaps as specific as President Benson was about "conspiracies." But the fact is that what they do teach us is divinely inspired to specifically battle against the conspiracies. Stay out of debt. The Bankers would have no leg to stand on if everyone did that. The church of the devil is actively trying to destroy the family and depopulate the earth. The brethren encourage people to get married earlier and don't be afraid of bringing children into the world. The church of the Devil tries its best to make people dependent on the state. The brethren encourage self reliance, food storage, etc. The church of the devil pretty much owns Hollywood and the music industry. The brethren regularly warn against evil influences in media.

War is Satan's business. We learn that in the temple, but it practically goes without saying I guess.

I never really used to think of the church of the devil as being people that consciously followed satan. But as I have spent time learning more about some of these things, I have come to the conclusion that there are people in the highest levels of wealth and power that have literally sold their souls to the devil and have regular communication with him. That they literally meet with demons and learn from them. That they literally perform human sacrifices and cannibalize their victims. If you go far enough down the road of investigating these conspiracies, I believe that is what you will find. It can be depressing. We leave Moroni chapter 9 out of the Sunday School curriculum because it is pretty dark. Don't expect the brethren to go into too many details about the conspiracies. But there was this from President HInckley in 2007:

"That war, [the war in heaven] so bitter, so intense, has never ceased. It is the war between truth and error, between agency and compulsion, between the followers of Christ and those who have denied Him. His enemies have used every stratagem in that conflict. They’ve indulged in lying and deceit. They’ve employed money and wealth. They’ve tricked the minds of men. A person can spend a lot of time learning about the secret combinations that have happened and are going on in the world. And to be honest, I'm not sure it is a very good use of time.

Well done. I think the reason why members often don't believe these things is because decent people don't want to believe there are people in the world so utterly, diabolically evil. Who would? Yet we know there is a devil who is the antithesis of all that is good, wholesome and holy.

Benson was into the whole communist conspiracy thing. Based on his position and background in government and the JBS, its no wonder that his theories and ideas spilled over into his religious duties. But are they true? There really is no communist conspiracy going on in America in my opinion. Whats interesting is that if you research LDS new world order conspiracies you come up with some of the same garbage as all the other conspiracies. We were told a lot about the Gadianton Robbers as a way to discern modern day conspiracies infiltrating our governments. The BoM was written first and foremost for the descendants of the Nephites and Lamanites most of which live in Latin America. The problems in Mexico especially are because of the prophecies of Moroni.

We may have some small scale secret combinations that happen in our government but it is mainly nonexistant here. The one thing that always accompanies secret combinations is murder for gain and power. You readily see that in organized crime. In fact, "organized crime" can be synonymous with "Gadianton Robbers".

This to me is what is meant by Gadianton Robbers where blood oaths are taken and murder and mayhem are done routinely. Secret Combinations are a little more sinister and I think work more subtly. I think there are many secret combinations, not all of them working toward one goal or even aware of each other. They are after their own individual agendas, whether it's tobacco companies hiding information about nicotine or pharmaceutical companies providing misleading information to get drugs approved or individual political groups working secretly to get their candidate and agenda in place.

The message is plain and unmistakabe and only by twisting and straining the clear meaning of President Benson's words can they be construed to mean what you seem to be saying they mean.

The simple fact of the matter is that in Ether Chapter 8 we latter day gentiles are clearly warned by a great prophet of God to pay heed to the following powerful, plain-spoken admonition:

23 Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, (that's us) it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain—and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction (just as it did the Jaredites and Nephites) if ye shall suffer these things to be.

24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you (no ambiguity here); or wo be unto it, because of the blood of them who have been slain; for they cry from the dust for vengeance upon it, and also upon those who built it up.

The above prophecy clearly fortells that this specific secret combination is a worldwide organization. There is nothing in the prophecy that would cause one to think its fulfillment will be localized in Mexico. I find your analysis off point and wanting -- a rationalization really. I don't blame you for not wanting to believe the nations of the world are in the grip of a massive Book of Mormon style secret combination. I don't want to believe it either, but I know President Benson spoke the truth 25 years ago when he warned the saints that Moroni's prophecy was even then in the process of being fulfilled. Some here may casually dismiss the solemn testimony of of a prophet of God who spoke as a prophet in General Conference because they doubt he spoke truthfully.

I for one will not follow suit.

At the very beginning of President Bensons's October 1988 address, entitled "I Testify," he said the following:

"As a special witness of Jesus Christ, and as His humble servant, it is now my obligation and privilege, as the Spirit dictates, to bear pure testimony and witness to that which I know to be true. This I will do."

So here we have a duly authorized prophet of God, speaking as a prophet, declaring in simple humility that it is his now his obligation to bear pure testimony and witness to that which he knew to be true. So if there are any here who are willing to say President Benson spoke falsely in this address, that's their business. Even so, I for one believe him.

President Benson was against the civil rights movement claiming it to be the tools of the communist party to incite revolution and overthrow of our country. Here we are, half a century later, we have an elected black president. Is he also part of this conspiracy?

These videos are absurd because they are so easy to research. For example, around the 1:12:00 mark they present a series of scary claims about different "Executive Orders" (i.e. provisions enacted under the authority of the President of the United States).

At 1:12:35, they say:

Well, here's the order:

Nowhere in the order is "Congress" mentioned, nor the duration of "six months", nor a "state of emergency". It's a fairly rudimentary outline of how the federal, state and local governments would work together in times of emergency. The "President" isn't mentioned anywhere in it either, other than the note at the beginning.

Weak sauce.

Other "scary" executive orders that they mention don't fare much better.

Admittedly it loses some credibility with its "the world is going to end within the next election cycle" conclusion (back in the '70's.) But I for one take it seriously. And obviously Ezra T. Benson took it seriously. And I'm inclined to believe he was better qualified to weigh in on the subject than you are. Or have you spent some time in a cabinet level position of the federal government?

Someone brought this up on "A Thoughtful Faith FB Group"

Scroll down on both sites and see the same women holding two different pictures, one of the Saviour and one of the Gen. RS Presidency. What is going on here? I could just skip this and move on but I just can't, is there a problem of false advertising here? Does the Ensign do this alot, use pics and doctor them up? Are these women even LDS? According to the FB poster, the church sometimes buys from Getty (whoever that is) random photos and uses them in articles. To me this is dishonest. Or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill? Am I the only one that believed pictures in the Ensign are actual members of the church?
