peteolcott Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 The commandment to Love One Another is to take much higher priority than any other commandment or doctrine, and applies to everyone that you come into contact with.
ERayR Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I am not able to muster up much love for someone beating my face in nor someone who harms children.
Tacenda Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I am not able to muster up much love for someone beating my face in nor someone who harms children.Who could or who would? 1
Kenngo1969 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 The commandment to Love One Another is to take much higher priority than any other commandment or doctrine, and applies to everyone that you come into contact with.Indeed. And?
peteolcott Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 I am not able to muster up much love for someone beating my face in nor someone who harms children.Yes this would be hard for me too. Are there any other exceptions for you?
peteolcott Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Indeed. And?So this rings true for you?
bluebell Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 The commandment to Love One Another is to take much higher priority than any other commandment or doctrine, and applies to everyone that you come into contact with.Isn't loving God with all of our might, mind, and strength the highest priority commandment? 2
peteolcott Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Isn't loving God with all of our might, mind, and strength the highest priority commandment?I love your tagline, it is very good.Loving God is the highest priority commandment. How is this Love for God best expressed?
Tacenda Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I love your tagline, it is very good.Loving God is the highest priority commandment. How is this Love for God best expressed? It would be hard to love someone for abusing us but forgiving them would be a way to show our love for God.
volgadon Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) Right, like I said, this board is even less tolerant of proselyting with very little discussion content than the other one. What Pete Olcott will keep doing is post vague purported messages from the Holy Spirit, and alternatively gush on and on about how close the church is. peteolcott Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Yes. And?That may be all for now. There may be more later.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Who could or who would?Too many, although Inthink he is speaking generally.

It takes time to get a feel for each board, and also for the best ways to communicate with other people through this kind of medium. We've all had moments where others had to correct and we had to change tactics. One good rule of thumb is to 'speak' the same way online as you would if you were in an actual conversation with someone that you did not know, but with whom you wanted to discuss something with.Think of how it would come across if you walked up to a stranger, said a statement such you did in the opening of this thread, and then stood back silently waiting for them to reply. They wouldn't have a clue what you wanted them to say and would probably wonder what was wrong with you since it's obvious, in person, that that's no way to begin a discussion. It's not a great way to begin a discussion on a message board either though. Especially where there isn't even tone of voice or facial expressions to help someone try to figure out what your purpose is of why you said what you said to them. 1

peteolcott Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Some more than most...me. I am just telling things from my heart. I have pondered these things for thousands of hours.

peteolcott Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Not sure if a point of discussion or a short sermon.Consensus building. I have been pondering these things for thousands of hours since 1991.
Kenngo1969 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) Consensus building. I have been pondering these things for thousands of hours since 1991.Then that prompts the question, why do you (I assume, since you are the one who started the topic) feel that consensus is lacking regarding the preeminence of loving God and loving one another among those who participate on this board in the first place. It's akin to my attempting to build "consensus" regarding the statement, "The sky is blue." The proposition isn't particularly the subject of discussion or debate; it's simply a given. We believe the Holy Bible, in which those Great Commandments are recorded. We believe that the Savior repeated those Great Commandments to the inhabitants of the New World and that they were also recorded in the Book of Mormon. We teach and testify of those Great Commandments in our talks and lessons. We sing of them in our hymns. Yes, like other fallible humans, we all have times in which we could do a better job "walking it like we talk it" regarding the Great Commandments. But even this last concession isn't particularly controversial. It, too, is a given. So my questions remain. As I said, I wait, all aquiver, on the edge of my seat, with 'bated breath, for further illumination. Edited November 18, 2012 by Kenngo1969 1
