CV75 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 No this view has been held since 1991, thus 21 instead of 17 years. The message is not that Love is the only divine thing to share. The message itself prevents fulfilling some of the baptismal requirements. It was 17 years before you were led to the Church, and another four where you haven't joined it, making the 21-year total. So the decision not to join wasn't a separate message from the Spirit, but your conclusion about what to do by virtue of the original message you received. What is the message, if not that the commandment to love one another sums up and superceeds all other commandments?(P.S. If the message is not that "Love is the only divine thing to share," then there must be other divine things to share, which is what the LDS Church possesses.)
peteolcott Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 You need to review the board guidelines. No preaching and no judging others' if you want to remain on board.I will need this to be made much more clear if I am to make sure that I fully comply.I previously understood this to me to refrain from dogmatism, that is why I state everything of this nature as an opinion by prefixing it with the phrase: "it seems to me", as I have done in the words that you quoted. It seems to me that nothing stated as an opinion could reasonably be construed as preaching, hence the need for additional clarification of the boards requirements.
The Nehor Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Not at all: if the quantity of Love is not >= Enough, then it must only be < Enough.Which is not what you said. You said it proves you have a message from God to spread this conclusion. The premises do not support the conclusion. There is too much murdering in the world. This does not mean God wants me to become Batman and try to stop criminals everywhere. Believe me, I asked.

peteolcott Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 The LDS Church is not perfect, and never will be. But it is true insofar as the keys and priesthood authority are there. If you wait until the Church is "perfect," that time I think will never come.Try some possibility thinking here...Can you think of any possibility out of every possibility that can possibly be where the following statement might be false:The LDS church is not perfect and never will be.

mathonihah Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Try some possibility thinking here...Can you think of any possibility out of every possibility that can possibly be where the following statement might be false:The LDS church is not perfect and never will be.No, as long as it is made of mortal men, it will never be. In heaven it might be. There is a church in heaven as well. That may be perfect. But the one on earth, as long as it is made up of mortal men and women, it will never be. It takes one imperfect member to make it imperfect. I think there will always be more than one.

volgadon Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 This is the point in time that I was referring to:http://bible.cc/ephesians/1-10.htmIt won't be the LDS church then.
peteolcott Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 It won't be the LDS church then.I am thinking that this might take more than a single instant, and the point in time from when it begins until just before it completes there might still be an LDS church. It might even possibly take a thousand years.

It would involve stating my basis for discerning errors in official doctrine, along with other things that may offend some here.Essentially if we take it as a premise that the above message is perfectly true, then we can find aspects of LDS doctrine that conflict with this message to some degree.
