Women'S Opinions For New Stake Presidents

I know this was a couple of pages ago, but the argument that women wouldn't know who was worthy struck me as infinitely funny. Most women I know know all the information available to anyone within a few weeks of it happening, even if bishops are not yet so informed. True, because the good women in your stake are by definition not gossips, the brethren will likely not KNOW that they know. And true, they may or may not know of the outcome of a disciplinary council. But that doesn't mean they don't know about prospective leaders' worthiness.

And true, they may or may not know of the outcome of a disciplinary council. But that doesn't mean they don't know about prospective leaders' worthiness.

At our last change of stake president, we were coming into the stake center for a meeting (the adult session on the Saturday evening, I think) as some brethren were leaving, and after we passed them and were in the foyer, my wife turned to me and quietly said, that she had a strong impression that one of the men -- whom she pointed out to me but whose name she did not know -- was going to be the new stake president. On the morrow we found she had been correct. Now, I don't know if the Lord was inspiring her about this, or if she saw something in his manner that said it to her, but I believe the former.

I don't doubt at all that women receive inspiration equally from the Lord, as is appropriate to their responsibilities, just as men do. And receiving a strong impression about who was going to be the next stake president, or a confirmation through the Spirit that the right man has been chosen is certainly within that for either men or women. It's essential, in fact.

I have seen this on more than one occasion. I know that the Lord is running this Church because of it. I have had two unmistakable witnesses of leadership being called by His will, three if you county my wife's witness.

When I was called to be a branch president, the stake pres asked my wife if she would sustain me. I suspect that if she had said No, then I wouldn't have gotten the calling.

True. It takes a lot of support (emotional, spiritual and physical) to successfully lead a ward or branch.

If they are gathering opinions in order to make a list of who to pray about, I don't see why women's opinions shouldn't be taken too. We make a lot of observations just as men do.

When the Brethren go into a Stake to call a new Stake President do you think they should consult some of the sisters for their opinion as to who the new Stake President should be?

I would hope "the Lord"...all others will see with the eyes of men or women; thus I fear will look upon the outward man.
