Intresting Sign Of The Times?

We are told that one of the signs of the times is going to be this:

Acts 2:20

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Some one on another board said something that sent me off on a Google search which lead me to this Wiki which speaks of the Crucifixion of Christ and a possible Lunar eclipse happening at the hour of the crucifixion over Israel which made the moon appear bathed in blood.

With all the stuff that has been happening lately, Tsunamis, Earth Quakes, Wars, Wall Street, 2 Elders of Zion running for the white house etc. etc. etc. it really got me thinking.

So I did a another google search and came up with this.

When is the next total lunar eclipse for North America?

The last total lunar eclipse for North Americans was on the night of December 20/21, 2010. When is the next total lunar eclipse that we in North America can see?

The total lunar eclipse of June 15, 2011 was not visible from North America. Another eclipse, on Dec. 10, 2011, will be interrupted for us in North America by moonset and sunrise. More about that below.

The next total lunar eclipse easily visible for North America will occur on the night of April 14-15, 2014.

There are from four to seven eclipses each year – some partial, some total, some solar, some lunar. But from your location on Earth, you can’t see every eclipse. Total solareclipses are seen only along a narrow band across Earth’s surface – a swath cut by the moon’s shadow as it sweeps across Earth during the eclipse. Total lunar eclipses are more widely seen. An entire hemisphere of Earth can watch simultaneously as a total lunar eclipse takes place.

About the eclipse of December 10, 2011. It will be interrupted by morning dawn, and the setting of the moon (or the rising of the sun). Even so, the Rocky Mountain states of the U.S. and especially the Pacific Coast states will be able to see a total eclipse before the moon sets. The Midwestern U.S. states and much of Mexico will see a partial eclipse before moonset. Canada is better positioned, as the western half of Canada should have little trouble witnessing all of the December 10, 2011 total eclipse.

No I'm not trying to calculate the endtime date, "No one knows, not even Jesus", And yes I know thousands of eclipses have happened since Christ. Just thought these two dates kind of intresting is all.

Dec 10, 2011

April 14-15, 2014

However, since it was written from the perspective of Israel, wouldn't it be more accurate to find when they might see and eclipse?

According to LDS theology the Nephites were of Israel and where on this continent.

General Conference, October 2011:

Sometimes you might be tempted to think as I did from time to time in my youth: “The way things are going, the world’s going to be over with. The end of the world is going to come before I get to where I should be.” Not so! You can look forward to doing it right—getting married, having a family, seeing your children and grandchildren, maybe even great-grandchildren.-- Elder Packer

Maybe he was talking as a prophet or maybe as a man. I guess only time will tell but this is one statement I loved from General Conference. It really poo-poos the dooms-dayers in my mind.

President Hinckley in 2005 general conference quoted this as being fulfilled with the Tsunami's.

Doctrine and Covenants, 88

89. For after your testimony cometh the testimony of earthquakes, that shall cause groanings in the midst of her, and men shall fall upon the ground and shall not be able to stand.

90. And also cometh the testimony of the voice of thunderings, and the voice of lightnings, and the voice of tempests, and the voice of the waves of the sea heaving themselves beyond their bounds.

91. And all things shall be in commotion; and surely, men's hearts shall fail them; for fear shall come upon all people.

RE: 2011

Nothing wrong with that. Will not the Righteous live through the Millenium and raise their Families?

Oh sorry, I thought you quoted the Book of Acts.

I did. Who was the prophet Joel referencing would see the sign? Yes he most likely did not know about the Nephites, however he had a larger body of Knowleged to draw from.

Looking at the context:

Joel 2:

30And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

31The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

32And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

It appears not that an eclipse would darken the sun, but the pillars of smoke.

And the perspective is from Jerusalem, as it says.

All of those who have been baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ are members of the house of Israel. The whole world will see every sign of the end times as it happens.

Quite a few of us probably considered this issue last Sunday -- from lesson 43 of our Gospel Principles manual. I recall that we took a somewhat broader look at the signs to come with the Day of the Lord:

The heavenly signs include darkness at noon, a blood moon, falling stars, etc. (Joel 2:10, 30-31, D&C 29:14) Someone in class suggested a meteor or asteroid might hit.

However, we spent far more time on the positive signs of the impending Second Coming: The Restoration of all things -- Book of Mormon, Gospel, priesthood, temples, gathering of the elect, etc.

The main icon of the true Church is a gold statue of Angel Moroni with-a-trump atop sacred temples -- another angel in heaven having the everlasting Gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the Earth (Rev 14:6-7, Matt 24:14). We are the Saints of the Last Days preparing to serve Him as a holy priesthood when He comes to cleanse the Earth.

Curious about Rev 14:6-7, in that context, the angel preaching, is that a future event for the LDS or past event?

Reason I'm asking is because the context of that chapter indicates that it happens right before the judgement and during the tribulation period (if this is a different topic, I can start a new one).
