Bill “Papa” Lee Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 The question always often to myself and others…Q... (Galatians 4: 16) 16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?A…No, but for stating you opinion as fact? But why do assume that it makes you my enemy? It happened this weekend in a more public setting that would not allow discussion to go forward because of politics. What allows this type of public attitude to flourish; is what will be happening yet again in “SLC” next weekend.http://www.compassionateboldness.com/Have any of you ever been to one of these? It is where our detractors are taught how to attack our Faith with “Boldness”, but doing so by calling it “Compassionate Boldness”.Where does descent manners come in?
Calm Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Where does descent manners come in?What would you identify as uncivil manners? I assume that you are okay with missionary work in general.
thesometimesaint Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I see lots of boldness. Compassionate? Not so much.
Storm Rider Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) Where does descent manners come in?Grammar can grate at times and most times I hold my tongue, pen, or computer....however, I am seeing repeated errors on this site and for the sake of sanity a few corrections are in order.Criticism may be a descent into harsh statements and bad feelings, but not necessarily. However, we can always be decent in our communication."Your" is a popossessive it is not and never will be the equivalent of you're. God in Heaven slap the next person that writes your instead of you're.Those seem to be the two most common grammar mistakes on this site of late and I apologize for bringing it up by my molars have been ground down to nubbins. Or last time when very public figures and their wives (in and out of the “pubic arena”) who were photo shopped in their garments. When does “boldness” turn into acting badly? It was the Church that was attacked with the term cult, not an individual.

Storm Rider Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Well you know us here in the South...we use grammar the way we like, so I am not sure want "you're" doing.Pops, I grew up in the South and even us reddest of necks and write and speak well a little effort. We all make mistakes and each of us falls short in grammar at some time, but at times, being an anally retentive individual, I am compelled to speak up before I become completely toothless.More to the point of the thread...I am not bothered too much by groups calling us a cult. Every time it comes up I always ask for a definition of cult and then within minutes the accuser looks like an idiot and we move on to the benefits of the Church of Jesus Christ. In addition, people like this pastor begin to look like the dregs of the theological bucket and are soon forgotten for their sheer ignorance.

Zakuska Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) Why the "Ron" in quotes, Zak?Because the Red Queen from Carm couldn't get his name right and kept refering to him as "Ron Bowman". Edited October 10, 2011 by Zakuska
thesometimesaint Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 When it is the starting position by our critics that we are being deceptive. Not much good will come of the encounter.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Pops, I grew up in the South and even us reddest of necks and write and speak well a little effort. You took that remark seriously?
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Because the Red Queen from Carm couldn't get his name right and kept refering to him as "Ron Bowman".I am beginning to wonder if she is a made up persona. Could she be as angry and as insulting in real life? What was she saying about “Ron”? (Rob for those here)
Calm Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Because the Red Queen from Carm couldn't get his name right and kept refering to him as "Ron Bowman".Oh yeah. I forgot you had posted that elsewhere.
Calm Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 When it is the starting position by our critics that we are being deceptive. Not much good will come of the encounter.Indeed.We need to remember this though when we examine others' work as well and not assume the same even if they've done it to us. We are directed to accept truth wherever we find it and if we take too many assumptions along with us, especially negative ones, this will prevent us from seeing it when we find it....and it might cause us to deceive ourselves that we have found it when we have not.

First hand experience.
BCSpace Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 A…No, but for stating you opinion as fact? But why do assume that it makes you my enemy?Don't we LDS boldly state as fact that we are the only true Church? Do we not state that the gospel was restored through JS implying that the rest are in a state of apostasy? Didn't Jesus in Matthew 10 say:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.?

Bill “Papa” Lee Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 She had posted 2 threads using some things "Rob" had written as a primary source and she kept refereing to her source as "Ron Bowman".Since there is no private messaging (just “visitor messaging) you should go around sometimes just reading what she posts to other Christians. I do not know why she is so bitter, I do she left one board before coming to CARM because they were too nice to Mormons. Although being banned here many times she still has an active account here that she uses to attack others in PM’s and in public.Apparently her anger was due to the fact that the word “cult” was not used enough.
wenglund Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I am flattered by the level of interest shown towards my faith by the good folks of "Compassionate Boldness." Obviously, in their mind, Christ's Church is a substantial force to be reckoned with. I can't say that same in return. At best, the "Compassionate Boldness" project will engender in me is a friendly nod for their being so attentive to us and spreading the word about the restored gospel. Beyond that, no real worries. Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Then she started accusing them of being Mormons. LOLJust beauce they were calling her on her bigotry, and telling her to tone down her rhetoric. Which obviosly be default makes them Mormons, because they were unwilling to attack us so brazenly as she does. Edited October 11, 2011 by Zakuska
KevinG Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I've been told I'm going to hell by more than one compassionate Evangelical. My favorite was my wifes old friend who started screaming at her in public, pointing to her pregnant belly and yelling that she was "carrying the spawn of Satan".I used to try to reason with these people posessed of a certain spirit. In my more cantankerous middle age I'm more tempted to drop trou and turn the other cheek towards them.
