Ron Beron Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Mine is a representation of an old DC Comic known as Enemy Ace, my old and very ancient moniker. It is a play on my name (Red B(e)aron and my favorite one time hobby, flying.
Stargazer Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Stargazer and a telescope. Fits, right? By the way, my IP address has been banned for some reason and I can't seem to send a message to the mods about it. Can someone pass this along? I don't know if I can even post this message through the proxy server I'm using. Here's the message:"I tried to send this earlier but it appeared to have failed, so trying again.Earlier today I signed in and found that the site thought I had a virus or something. It demanded some kind of proof I wasn't a bot. Instead, I got off and ran a bunch of scans on my machine and couldn't find anything at all that looked suspicious. I came back just a bit ago and found that my IP -- 24.18.96.85 -- had been banned. Perhaps it could be unbanned? I had to sign in this time through an anonymous proxy -- otherwise I couldn't even ask to be unbanned! I feel so sneaky... lol"
Calm Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Done, Stargazer....Now you just need to wait until one wakes up....It has happened to other posters so they'll know what to do, I believe Edited October 11, 2011 by calmoriah
Storm Rider Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Mine is a picture of the interior of the Dome of the Rock in Jersalem. This is just over the Well of Souls.

cinepro Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I like the second one (of Jesus). Makes him look very personable. Cinepro, does your name have any special meaning? It makes me think of the movies...cinema..Back in the 90s when I first started using message boards, I attached the prefix "cine" to my last name and used that as my moniker. Then I had to re-register on a board and couldn't use that original name, so I just used "cinepro", and I've just used it ever since. I do work in the film industry (on the home video side), so I guess it's not too inaccurate.

cinepro Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the response. So, no deep isoteric meaning or anything. How disappointing. (j/k)It's also the name of a manufacturer of high quality theater sound equipment. I've asked them for a "cinepro" T-shirt to wear to the Fair Symposium, but they didn't have any. Nathair/|\ Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Mine is a bull snake. It's a harmless snake that looks nearly identical (unless you look closely) to the prairie rattle snakes in Blackfoot country where I grew up. It represents, among other things, the snake on the Don't Tread on Me revolutionary war battle flag (opposition to tyranny in all it's forms), the serpent mentioned in 2 Nephi 25:20, and the snakes that St. Patrick so rudely drove out of Ireland.

Just like this:There's not a mile of Eirann's isle where dirty vermin mustersBut there he put his dear fore-foot and murdered them in clustersThe frogs went hop and the toads went pop slapdash into the waterAnd the snakes committed suicide to save themselves from slaughter Nine hundred thousand reptiles blue he charmed with sweet discourses And dined on them in Killaloe on soups and second courses Where blind worms crawling in the grass disgusted all the nation Right down to hell with a holy spell he changed their situation

CV75 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 My avatar is Yoda from Star Wars, wearing a suit and glasses. I got it from someone on another LDS-themed message board years ago.I think there are a couple of different ways to look at it, but I mostly just see it as a comment about the way suits and ties fit in to LDS culture and the way we view spirituality, like even Yoda would have to dress this way.I recognize it (perhaps incorrectly) as Yoda's face superimposed on President Kimball's torso taken from one of the latter's official portraits. President Kimball was often mocked for looking like Mr. Magoo or Yoda.
CV75 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 As for my avatar, I just haven't found one that I like and I don't want to keep changing it; and I avoid "personae." I used my own face a couple of times and felt more comfortable posting more anonymously..

President Kimball was often mocked for looking like Mr. Magoo or Yoda.I recognized it as being Kimball-esque, but didn't realize it was directly taken from this portrait:Considering the popularity of early-80's urban legends about Yoda's design having been influenced by President Kimball's appearance (usually involving a story about the designers being told to find "the wisest man they could" and basing Yoda on them, and having it be President Kimball), I don't consider it "mocking" but rather a literal fulfillment of the urban legend.Mr Magoo is just kind of a generic "old man" (and was created in the 1940's or 50's, long before President Kimball gained any notoriety), so I don't see much of a connection. At least with Yoda there's the slightest plausibility that the appearance of one may have influenced the appearance of the other.
One Clear Voice Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 My icon means that there is only "One Clear Voice"

Must be generational, which in this case is a good thing.
Lord of Strange Deaths Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Lo Pan from Big Trouble in Little China. Best. Villain. Ever.
