ERMD Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Love the selections in the two morning sessions.Mack Wilberg's arrangement of "Come, Come Ye Saints" is one of my all-time favorites. I look forward to hearing it every couple of years.

The Nehor Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Missing my favorite "Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief" but still very good.
Jigglysaint Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I dare you to sneak Winter Wrap-up into the lineup.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Does Infinity cable have a channel for KBYU?
volgadon Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) Does Infinity cable have a channel for KBYU?Depends on what region you are in. Outside of Utah if it is anywhere it'd be in the prefered or classic, but not sure it is worth the price. Especially when you can view it online. Edited September 12, 2011 by volgadon
One Clear Voice Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Bishop e-mailed me and asked if we would be interested in the SUNDAY 6 P.M. session? I know there is a Saturday night session, but Sunday Night?Anyone know about this? I need to get out from under my rock more often.
William Schryver Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 I almost always love the men-only choirs in the Priesthood Session--especially when they combine the Tabernacle Choir men with the combined men's choirs from BYU. Do you know and can you tell us what the plan is for this upcoming Priesthood Session? Also, I have a special request for Brother Wilberg: do a Wilberg arrangement of Come, Thou Glorious Day of Promise (#50 in the hymnbook). I really like that hymn, but it is more or less unknown among the Saints. It was a favorite of my grandfather (William Hardy, 1879-1968) who was a life-long director of choirs in Davis County, and a good friend of Evan Stephens.Incidentally, I have been asked to play the organ and also organize a special choral number for our stake's upcoming General Priesthood meeting. I am assembling a men's quartet to perform Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy (I'll sing either the bass or the baritone part). We will be doing it a cappella. I love that song done a cappella.

HiJolly Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 FYI: In the arrangement of "I am a child of God" we are including the fourth verse. I am a child of God, his promises are sure; Celestial glory will be mine, if I can but endure. HJ

annewandering Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 my husbands great great grandfather wrote the song Come, Thou Glorious Day of Promise. I think I have heard it sung maybe once.

Saints Alive Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Has anyone else heard the rumor that the majority of talks are going to focus on leaving the Church?
The Nehor Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Has anyone else heard the rumor that the majority of talks are going to focus on leaving the Church? The Brethren are going to use reverse-psychology? 1
Saints Alive Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 More like reaching out tho those who already have left. I haven't watched conference yet, can anyone who did verify or dismiss the rumor?
Calm Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Read Tao's conference thread as he's taken short notes of almost all the talks.
cdowis Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Read Tao's conference thread as he's taken short notes of almost all the talks.I understand the topics are not coordinated. They speak according to inspiration, or there may be one or two talks that are assigned.
ERMD Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 How is it determined who sits/stands where in the choir?
HiJolly Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 David & Debbie Gehris decide where we sit, with input from the production folks and the conductors, Mack & Ryan. The primary directive at the present time is that the tallest people sit in the back, with highest voices starting at the left. The specific seats are assigned out and remain in place usually for about 6 months. Some special events, like the Berlioz Requiem we did last month, we get a whole different seating for. HiJolly
ERMD Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) Cool. I've come to recognize where some faces that have become familiar (yours included) usually are. Every now and then there seems to be a shuffling. I always wondered why.Thanks.Did you know C.H. Hill? He's a friend of mine who was in the choir some years ago. Edited October 3, 2011 by ERMD
