I did a quick Google on "Aaronshaf." Our resident antiMormon spiritual event disrupter is appartently quite active on the web.

Here is a link to one of his web pages that features him preaching outside the Manti (I believe) temple. Notice that he highlights one of the people watching and declares him to be "demon" possessed because the fellow was somehow preventing other people from listening to him preach and supposedly going into "fits of rage. (The demon possessed person AaronShaf points out on his website is the gentleman in the light blue jump suit in the lower left corner of the photo. If you look closely you can see the horns sticking out of his head and the glazed eyes that typify a Mormon cultist.)

While I may find the humor of the digitally retouching amusing, I think we may have crossed the line over to mocking a fellow board member. Calling that person an idiot is also most likey a violation of the letter and spirit of the board rules.

I have no problem challenging AaronShaf on the merits of his antiMormon ministering...or his very public participation hostile, negative, attack-style Evangelism...I hope that we do not close this thread by mocking him.

Just a thought or two on that subject.

I just watched this video and it was the biggest farce I think I've seen come out of the EV movement in a long time. It completely misrepresented the beliefs of our church, IMHO. What's ironic is the EVs had no problem electing George Bush and George Bush Jr., both members of a Satanic fraternal organization (Skull & Bones) that requires men to commit lewd acts while locked in a coffin. I don't wanna get too Texe Marrs-ish here but it seems like if I were still EV I would much rather have a Mormon in office.

Also, the video gave no "salvific" reasons why Mormons are not Christians. There are many variations of Christianity even among EVs and that doesn't mean that one is better than the other. I highly doubt Jesus will look at me on judgment day and say "bjw, you aren't saved because you believed that I am not also the Father and that I have a physical body." What people like the producers of this video have done is add to the gospel, we are saved by the grace of God and through the atonement of Christ. His sufferings took away our sins and He conquered death so we can live. The Mormons follow the model of salvation as outlined in the book of Acts: Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost. That is completely Biblical. Anything else may seem like a peculair belief but even some EV churches have peculiar beliefs, like double predestination.

What puzzles me is I bought a POD CD at the local EV Christian bookstore in my area. POD are rastafarians, and while they claim to be Christians, they have many eccentric beliefs, like believing the emporer of Ethiopia Halle Sallecie (sp?) is the second coming of Christ and that Ethiopia is Zion once again established on Earth. Their album Sattelite practically reads like scripture for the rastafarian movement, and POD's stage backdrop at Ozzfest show Christ in dreadlocks. Now, I ask, why are EV bookstores promoting this band in their stores and publications as being "Christian Rock."

The point I'm making with these two examples is that Mormonism has much more in common with the EVs than the rastafarians and Skull & Bones ever thought of. Yet, EVs have chosen to back these movements in the recent past. Sorry for the rant, that video just got to me.

He's the one with the so-called "mormonwiki" right? If so, I wouldn't be surprised to see several of the posters' comments being put up on his site as he often quotes posters' comments. Links to them as well, but almost all the links I clicked on were dead, so I couldn't read their comments in context.

I wonder if aaron...or whoever creates that site...ever informs someone when they are being used to support his anti-mormon activity elsewhere on the web.

I attended the Manti pageant a few years ago.

Does the Watchman ministry still show up?

I met Timothy Oliver there and had an interesting

discussion with him. It was fun standing off to the side

to watch the tactics of the young EVs who had come

in several bus caravans and had "Mission to Mormons"

t-shirts on. At that time, they would

focus on a single young adult or a small group of

young adults. They surrounded their prey and started

hurling questions about the LDS church. I was approached

and asked if it would shake my testimony if I knew there

were over 5000 changes in the text of the Book of Mormon.

I responded by asking if it would shake their testimonies

of they knew there were 10 times that many changes in

the Bible. That's when Brother Oliver stepped in to

take over. I also met a very interesting lady...can't remember

her name....something like Edie Ebby. She was with the ministries

and claimed to be a former member. She quit the LDSchurch when

she met Jesus in person in the desert up near Taos, New

Mexico,and he told here the church was false.

I don't know how she got past the EV screeners for

loony-toons confrontationalists.

This experience led me to create the fictional Mormon S. Heber Young

Ministries to Evangelicals. His main crusade was to witness to the EV

audiences of the huge Jesus pageant produced in Puyallup WA every

summer. One of his favorite confrontational devices was to have his

minions put boxer shorts on their heads or wave them over their heads and ask

the EVs why they wore these symbols of Satan. I may have to revive

S. Heber, but his minisitry was obviously successful...the Jesus pageant

in Puyallup has folded up. Hahahaha! S.Heber makes about as

much sense as Timothy Oliver and Aaronshaf. They are all good for

a laugh, however, in these sober times.

I shudder to think that such an anti-mormon, lives in Orem Utah of all places. Orem is one of the best and brightest places on this earth. It has come as close to being described as a Zion (Or Shire for those Tolkien fans out there.... come one I know you are out there) as any place I know.

I went to the Manti twice (during the same summer) when I was 16 in age. I attended the Pageant and had a marvelous, wonderful experience, despite the Anti's who I argued with for too much time. I remember talking to some guy about something, and I looked over to the south saw some guy was haranguing a crowd. I would look over occassionaly, and I saw that he was standing on some sort of box so he could be better seen. Anyhow he was must have said something so insulting that the crowd started pressing him: closer and closer. After a while people must have started pushing him, because the next thing I saw was him literally running away (box in tow) stating (something to the effect of) "Stop pushing me, let me stand, let me stand".

I went back to my discussion with the Anti about how the Book of Mormon was false because it had over 3000 changes in it. Even at that age, I was schooled in the Book of Mormon enough to know that argument doesn't hold water.

I so looked forward to getting the next installment in the episodes of the life of S. Heber Young, a man we should be proud to call "one of our own".

You will recall last year’s report. Hundreds of Mormon missionaries had been mobilized to picket the pageant, but the plan was frustrated by an unexplained missionary car failure.

Additional problems arose with the arrival of S. Heber Young’s radical group Utah and Idaho Missions To Evangelicals (U&I MITE). Efforts to keep the MITEs confined to the parking lot proved successful, but S. Heber vowed to return his year. He’s back.

Here’s the local media report: from this year’s pageant:

“Young Mormons crashed the party at Covenant Church’s Pageant again this summer. Clad in matching teal and mauve “MORMON MITES” t-shirts, dozens of fresh-faced youths under the direction of Mormon activist S. Heber Young unloaded from Dodge and Ford minivans in the Amphitheater parking lot. Police confronted the anxious group, directing them to an area behind yellow barricades opposite the Amphitheater entrance. From that vantage point the Mormons unfurled banners and posters: “10 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PASTOR!” “INNERRANCY SUCKS!” “EVANGELICALS ARE LOUSY KISSERS!”

“New to this year’s protest, Mormon young women brandished bull horns to harangue Evangelicals entering the Amphitheater gates. 75-year-old S. Heber and other adult protesters paraded back and forth behind the barricade dressed only in boxer shorts and briefs. “Why do you wear this funny underwear,” the girls taunted shocked Evangelicals.

Absent this year were the cadres of Mormon missionaries who had set up booths distributing Family Home Evening Manuals, Lime Jello, and CTR rings at previous pageants. The arrival of the more virulent MITEs at last year’s pageant coupled with the unexplained electrical failure of all missionary cars in a five mission area discouraged the more respectful missionary participation.

LDS Humptulips WA Mission President Straub Chortle commented, “We always protested in good taste. We love Evangelicals.They'll be praying that me and my boys come back next year instead of S. Heber’s crowd.They're missing the free Jello and CTR rings! It’s their fault. If they had left well-enough alone they wouldn’t have to deal with the radicals.”

Chortle was referring to a recent lawsuit over freeway access to the Amphitheater. Local Evangelicals had sought to control the access during pageant dates, but Mormons sued them and the Pierce County Sherrif for the right to drive where ever they wanted. “Freedom Means Free Access to Freeways” lawyer Trestle Asphalt successfully pushed the lawsuit that opened the door to groups like Young’s MITE.

“We just want to see our pageant,” complained Evangelical Turbo Crossly. “We have rights, too. They don’t need to come here to disrupt us.” Crossly and his fiance Patricia Tony Loftus were planning to get engaged near the Amphitheater fountain, but were reduced to sobs by shouts of “YOUR MARRIAGE VOWS INCLUDE YOUR DIVORCE DECREE!” from jeering Mormon MITES dressed in tuxedos and white wedding gowns.

“We’’ll be back next year,” swore Young. But S.Heber’s advanced age may prohibit further participation. His son John D. Lee Young is prepared to take over the cause. “We're already soliciting love donations to help purchase new supplies, plus we’ll have a surprise or two next year. Think: sky divers in boxers," hinted JDL.
