I’d rather hear I know than to hear “I believe and so should you.”

There’s a big difference between “this is what I believe (or feel or think)” and “what I believe is what you should believe”. In 2025, what is your perception of how the church leaders want us to express our beliefs?

DONNY OSMOND is absolutely not paying for those kids. This is fake news. I have gotten several headlines indicating that all these celebrities are paying for the children’s education. I have noticed a significant increase in AI and completely false information. We have to be very careful. -

I’ve written something and erased it five times. There’s no more to say. We are lost.- 414 replies

I finished a little more than the first half. It is a much more hopeful message than the message that I received most of my life in the church. I’m not sure how to feel about that.

It would be hard to be on a team and never have the coach put me in the game. There would have to be a love for religion and an abiding faith to carry that out. Impressive.

Thank you. It looks like a very interesti interview. I will watch it today.

Why do you incessantly insist on delivering your messages in such a condescending cruel way?

What is the Difference Between a Blessing and a Prayer
MustardSeed replied to bluebell's topic in General Discussions
So if I am stranded on a country road after an accident, and my child is in the car and as a woman, I pray to God to save my child, there’s less power in that person than if the man were there and gave the child a priesthood blessing? -

Thank you for the validation. I do believe that there are many including participants here that would disagree but anecdotally that is my experience. -

I’ve never personally experienced my prayers being less powerful than a priesthood blessing, thankfully. -
I would describe it as this: (obviously not everyone but when I heard this I know it’s Utah sourced ) Mountain: mou’in with a gutteral stop Idea: two syllables instead of three: idih Lots of enunciation short a starts with an eee sound : hat: heee-at Alphabet: ee-alphabee-at

Sorry I won’t indulge this. I have my own thoughts about tithing and not all of them are good, but I don’t experience you here as being open to a conversation outside of an agenda that I can’t get on board with. Be well.

If you want to participate here easily you need to understand the culture of the well established group. when you make a statement, if it is fact, be prepared to back it up. If it’s opinion, state it as so. The statement that all Mormons use their extra money to donate to the church is completely baseless and IMO is stated in such a way to make us look like idiots. I would request that if you are going to join this party that you show a little more respect for the intelligence of those who are participating here.

Cash is always king. I do 100 for a wedding, 200 for nieces and nephews. If I go to a non-LDS wedding, I will look for a beautiful dish in the hundred dollar range

Pres. Oaks: "...a Heavenly Mother or Mothers"
MustardSeed replied to ZealouslyStriving's topic in General Discussions
I read Rod’s comment to say ‘ how would we have otherwise differentiated between each other during the pre-mortal life?’ I would have assumed myself that mortal life came with a level of intelligence and awareness that we don’t have on earth. Of course I’m talking out of my butt and absolutely know nothing about anything. -

Turns out it was don’t pray to her, and don’t speculate beyond what’s already been offered. -

Upon further research, it turns out I was incorrect. All that was said was to not speculate beyond what has been already told us. -

I don’t think anybody is surprised by the content of Elder Oaks speech. It’s sort of an obvious nod to our doctrine. But we were specifically told within the last two years II don’t think anybody is surprised by the content of Elder Oaks speech. It’s sort of a obvious nod to our doctrine. Weren’t we recently schooled in GC for discussing heavenly mother? I wish they wouldn’t change the rules without discussing the fact that the rules are changing. -
Well, I believe that would end the church as we know it.

I’ll speak for myself then. I don’t want to be sexual with anyone but my husband. And if he ever leaves, the thought of being sexual with men outside my preferred age range, my preferred races, my preferred gender, my preferred number , my preferred everything makes me - shudder. So I can appreciate anyone being upset at being told that they are going to have to accept something other than their preference (especially since that’s opinion afaik)
