Blacks were bared from the temple. There is no getting around that. For almost 150 years they were discriminated against. And, lo and behold, there was no revelation on this. Just a racist policy. The church needs to do the right thing and own their mistakes and apologize. The Presbyterians did, and it didn't seem to hurt their standing at all.
-
Is that what the church is all about? Avoiding pressure for doing the right thing? What about the churches and organizations that were contemporary with the Utah church but opposed and worked against the evils slavery , such as the Quakers, Christian abolitionist movement, and the American Anti-Slavery Society (Presbyterian)? Additionally, many Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian members freed their slaves and sponsored black congregations. How does history remember these organizations? Much better than the LDS church with their 150 years of racist history.

The Oregon fans were incredibly rude and disrespectful and childish. But the F-bomb as bad as it is, is not and does not convey a racism or a racist attitude. Unlike rowdy college students, who eventually grow up and get responsible, Racism is much harder to cure.

Murder-Suicide of "Mormon" Family in Maryland

I did see this story on the local news tonight. It didn't mention Mormon at all. But it gave enough family history to make it clear they were active members. -

I think it is a big assumption that these are the last days. -
Maybe it's time to admit our processes are not working and its time for a new revelation. Instead of relying on being called of God, by prophecy, we need to add background and psychiatric testing. Sam Young, a former Bishop raised a red flag about LDS practices concerning adult interviews with children and advocated for much more transparency. Of course he was excommunicated. Another threat neutralize? Perhaps not. Perhaps the the real threat to the church is in antiquated processes and leaders who are in office long past their prime, and have lost touch with the reality of the current times.

If we could expand this to include apostles, then I would like to meet and talk with Hugh B. Brown or LeGrand Richards, or J. Golden Kimball. All very interesting people.

I was afraid something like this would happen. It was a very unfortunate situation and reflects poorly on Utah County. But as I understand it the person responsible for the racist actions was not an employee or student of BYU. So I think this action by South Carolina is somewhat unfair.
-
The BYU athletic director has spoken out condemning the racist actions, as has the Utah governor. Has the church made a statement yet?

The church has just announced that Kyle McKay, a seventy, has been called to be the church historian. True to form, he is a lawyer. https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders/2022/8/12/23294170/church-historian-and-recorder-elder-kyle-s-mckay-church-history-strengthen-faith-questions#:~:text=9%2C 2022.-,Elder McKay began serving as the new Church historian and,1%2C 2022.&text=For Elder McKay “the most, and the Book of Commandments.

With 100 Billion squirreled in the stock market, I think the church will be around for quite a long time.

The Continued Decline of Young Men Willing to Serve a Mission

You really should ratchet back this kind of rhetoric. People could get the impression that you are bigoted or something. -

I read about that somewhere🙂 -
I'm sorry, but IMO this does not let the Bishop off the hook. The right things were not done. The abuse was not addressed. That is why they are facing lawsuits.
