Pres Hinckley, although I had to warm up to him gradually.

I have a little dilemma, that is huge to me. I've been driving a 2009 Honda CRV and on the highway it feels like I'm going super fast, very noisy and shakes a little at certain speeds. I've driven it for over 5 years. I love Honda's and didn't want a car payment, liked it on sight and bought it, but now have come to this cross road in my life of not liking it at all for that one reason. I have anxiety on the freeways and thought it had something to do with my thyroid. But had a bad experience with the vehicle before the Honda in a snowstorm and my wipers weren't functioning and was trying to drive on the freeway all the while reaching out and trying to get the wipers free of compacted snow, it nearly did me in. So now I'm asking for help, don't dare do it on FB because I'm a little embarrassed but feel safe asking here. What vehicles do you drive or do you have knowledge of a vehicle that feels like they're going slower than they really are. Those vehicles that people drive on the freeway/highway and they look down at the speedometer and realize they're going ninety and need to slow down. My vehicle, they'd know it! Thanks in advance for any suggestions on vehicles. I need to buy one before I'm totally afraid. I read recently an article that said it could be a sign of dementia when people choose not to drive at high speeds. Also, it could be that the freeway/highway is so bad because the state you live in was rated 2nd worst speeders in the nation, haha. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I've just found out someone near and dear to my family was sexually abused by an older brother. She's been suffering for years and this is lifelong. What can we do to help society not do these horrible crimes. I wish I knew.

Church lowers missionary age for women to 18
Tacenda replied to bsjkki's topic in General Discussions
Maybe this is a dumb question since I'm out of the loop. Is it an 18 month mission or 24 month mission? I think it's great, and more equal to the young men. -
So true, let the generations evolve, haha!

But you're real. -
That is correct, I had forgotten the name of the group. But it did start the whole thing collapsing.

I remain old fashioned with things in the church such as the Road Shows the youth put on, the church pageant plays throughout the historical areas etc., even the Boy Scouts. Things continually change. I think this change has a lot to do with the women's group that wanted to have the Priesthood be given to the females in the church. I remember the day that the group, now the name of the group escapes me, attended the men's only Priesthood Session of conference. And that is why the PH session was then turned to include everyone. And sadly the women's session was taken away. One thing I didn't like was them including eight year old youngsters to be able to go to the women's session, maybe the men's as well, can't remember. I think that's too young. While active I remember my husband's father and brothers (including their sons) attending the PH session throughout the years and my mother-in-law providing pie and ice cream afterwards. And the women's session, I would usually watch from my home or from our ward/stake building which included a light dinner or dessert. These are fond memories, and the old ways are so missed. I know that traditions were formed from having them. I heard one the other day, something like, what are the women going to do while their husbands aren't at PH sessions, such as going together and shopping at the Deseret Bookstore, for one. Seems like the church is streamlining, there's a word for it, that I've forgotten that one of the leaders mentioned years ago in a talk, but it escaped me. The community of the church is very important and hopefully it's not stripped down to the bare bones.

What particularly good non-fiction book have you read?
Tacenda replied to Rain's topic in Social Hall
I finally got to listen to this book on Libby. It was very difficult to listen to in many spots. Made me worry for those in that faith, the women are being trained in ways that are so harmful. It makes me hate the Bible. I really wish there was Bible information before people read it, to take serious note that the Bible is man made, unless it's God breathed. Even Jimmy Carter who is a stalwart Christian has mentioned that it can be harmful. -
Being formed into Gods of their own dominions

Thanks for responding! I've never once heard discussion in GD about polygamy. Good to know and what I think is going to happen when more transparency happens. -

I wanted to attend the Gospel Doctrine lesson on polygamy this past Sunday but didn't get there. How did it go in your wards, anyone that care to answer. In the past I didn't hear much about JS's polygamy but that was years ago. And possibly I was teaching a Primary class and missed it. I just wonder how the transparency is looking especially since the Saint's books have been released. -
I hope this is the opening of many out there's eyes opening up about Tim Ballard and the ilk.

Lines around the block and 3 hour waits for sleeveless "garments"
Tacenda replied to JLHPROF's topic in General Discussions
Well, I was going to say something else to MustardSeed, and that is many women like regular underwear for their period time. I hope I didn't offend her by what I said with wondering if it's okay for regular underwear. -

Quoting again, I'm confused about the slip garment. Does it mean women are allowed to wear regular underwear? I sure would hope so. -

I agree with you on most of what you say, I'm the same. I hold those notions in my head too, particularly with not wearing sleeves and what will people think. I probably won't go sleeveless especially now since my arms are flabby at my age. But I'll bet those people that work out and have defined arms will enjoy being able to show them now. I actually believe the church had other reasons to go sleeveless besides that it's too hot for those in the hot climates. I believe the youth are changing things and the church would like them to keep going to church and the temple. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
