I recently got back from visiting the United Kingdom...Ireland, London, Scotland with a tour group. I walked so many castles and cathedrals and I thought to myself that people would be like me and interested in the CoJCoLDS's like I was interested in the Catholic and Protestant faith's churches/cathedrals and cultures which goes back so many years ago and remember reading that the Salt Lake Temple and visitor's center is top on the list of tourist tours. This will be a great addition for that.

This is the guy that I've been following and sharing my thoughts with that he's wrong about Buzz Aldrin saying he hadn't been to the moon. He just keeps coming up with different conspiracy theories. I remember going to a park in Bountiful, Utah several years ago where he spoke at a freedom festival of sorts and he was a big Trump supporter. He no longer is and I thought he'd maybe decide facts are real, but he's a moon landing denier and posts videos of different things that pertain to that unbelief. He believes the government is out to get us, recently the chem trails being another one and posting videos of it. But hey, sometimes I tilt toward what he's saying thinking I may be wrong too. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1AvVHdZrSa/

I'm thinking so. But I haven't really talked much, they act like I'm the dumb one.
-
They are probably getting information from hoards of people that think the same, but they don't care if I disagree. Good kids, just want them to check the facts, which I've told them to look into. Edited: They are dead set on believing the info about Buzz Aldrin not reaching the moon.
-
For sure, I'm stumped. And when it's your own child saying this, it's even more frustrating.

Thanks, I'll check it out!

I've always believed we landed on the moon. But lately I'm hearing from people that we really didn't and it was all fake. Like even with the people flying around the moon now, they are saying the lady hair sprayed her hair to stick up. My son and his wife are believing what is going around and I don't want them to be steered wrong. If any one has some real proof, I'd love to set them straight. There's something going around about an astronaut saying he didn't land on the moon, but what is shown is interviews he's had taken out of context and made to look like he's saying we didn't get on the moon, but I watched one of the interviews and he actually said that we haven't been on the moon afterwards. The astronauts name just escaped me, so I'll edit soon.

Has she had or done anything real stressful lately? I'm embarrassed to say I exploded in tears on Easter Sunday when my husband wouldn't hide the Easter eggs for the grand "littles" before they arrived, he feared the candy that melts would melt in the sun, and wanted to wait till right before we have the hunt, and I was worried that would blow the hiding spots but he did hide them earlier when I wanted and he was right, they melted! It was me, and my pressure cooker ways, I stress about the food and every little thing being good enough and sometimes my husband will seem to thwart it for me. Like for instance when we would have dinners for my kids who are all out of the house, he would seem to think dinner was ready, and call everyone for prayer. Well, it wasn't ready as far as silverware, drinks or little things, and he just could not help himself. To me, it showed he didn't respect me. And in other ways he seems to think the worst and is negative so I almost feel he wills things to go wrong, but it's not out of spite. So after my explosion and our feelings for each other were on the line, we luckily got it together before the family arrived. I hold things in a lot. Could it be she had a reaction somewhat like mine, over something so small? Is there something she had been trying to have be just right or perfect. Maybe even Gen Conf talks that she's had a renewed sense of trying to be better? Just my two cents. Hope everything works out and you two can discuss it together and get to the bottom of it.

I agree on this one! One speaker and done.

I think the apostles, general authorities and prophets, most likely would welcome some time to be with family, friends and especially their spouses! And attend to personal needs and hobbies etc.
-
I think this is a great idea, at first I was thinking the block was only going to be an hour. I heard someone say this was being tried out somewhere. But I misunderstood apparently. I think people will actually need to start on time and be on time!

Lessons Learned from a Young Lady Who is Wise Beyond Her Years
Tacenda replied to Kenngo1969's topic in Social Hall
Thanks for posting! Your story with Lisa made me compare my experience today in Sacrament meeting after not attending for nearly 5 years! Not that your experience was a whole lot like mine, just how a younger person made you feel better. I was asked by my friend yesterday if I wanted to go to her ward. She joked that her ward wanted them to bring guests for Palm Sunday. I told her I would if I didn't have my granddaughter to tend yesterday and today, and my friend's ward started at 9:00, so I had to tell her I couldn't. I really wanted to though. Then after my granddaughter left at around 11:30 I checked churches that started in the afternoon and found an LDS chapel not far away that started at noon so I headed there! I sat down in my usual place in the back by a door. No one came over which was a relief, haha, because I had rehearsed in my mind what I'd say. Before Sacrament began I had passed a room that had a table full of food that had been brought by ward members. That's a first in my lifetime on a Sunday that I've seen happen, but I know now they have "linger longers" in wards with food and for visiting afterwards with each other. Maybe this happened a lot outside of Utah possibly. I sat behind a cute family and it looked like an older couple with their granddaughter who appeared to be maybe 4. She interacted with me and handed me these stickers that she played with and they were all over her face, and so I put one on my face for a time and smiled and then she handed me her snacks and I just said no thank you. Maybe that would look a little funny, haha. And then a family came in late and sat by me and two of their daughters started interacting with the child in front with the stickers and put stickers all over their faces. I just felt like I was home again. But the little girl was not your norm, she could be 4 going on 30 and was all about including people. Then I looked through the new hymn songs in a separate book that have been added and during the Sacrament read the words to Amazing Grace, which BTW I heard the story of the man who wrote it and how much he needed Grace. The Primary children sang a beautiful song that was so well done and then a wonderful talk by a sister about information I knew very little about on Palm Sunday or what led up to Jesus' death. I think all the years in church I would know, but apparently I was not a good listener. Or maybe, if we'd had more to do with Palm Sunday I might have, but now we do, so I won't complain. And in the hall they had a chair with palm leaves and a pamphlet at the end of a dark hall that I thought they were combining with the Sacrament meeting but weren't brought in. So I wondered what was going on with that. And so a first as well, the Palm leaves (I vaguely remember a lesson with them though) And after church, I saw a young man trying to pass them out, so maybe they were mean't to be passed out at the end, he was in the parking lot catching a few people. Or I'm guessing here. Maybe the chair with them wasn't in a good spot to be seen. Then the choir sang and someone played a clarinet. Very spiritual and I shed a tear or two. I felt my Savoir I believe. I'm glad I finally attended church. And my husband was out of town, so maybe I felt more freedom to do what I wanted, but he would have been fine, and maybe had joined me.- 4 replies

I was curious about this, do the presidents help with the SS lessons, as far as theme etc?
-
Awesome! I remember when I was a Sunday School Secretary back in the day. Great way to learn the whole ward's names to faces, since each Sunday I was in charge of taking a role and would stand in the classroom's back door and see the people and check them there. I think it wonderful for a woman to be president now!

God Bless Patti! She's amazing and I haven't met her, but knowing what you've said here, she's an angel. I'll be saying a prayer, I hope she kicks that bug quick. Sorry for you and your family's loss rodheadlee. 😢

What They Talk About: Joseph Ran a Scam Business?
Tacenda replied to Pyreaux's topic in General Discussions
I didn't want to start a topic but did want to share this article that the pay wall was taken down. I thought it was interesting about Richard Bushman. https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2026/03/08/lds-historian-richard-bushman/?fbclid=IwY2xjawQlGS5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEe4YxdTU3ZEPZBzKbcrRRAT4UMZs_R6ClKh8S-F_-5FFrn5k8L8jcWYhvaT5Y_aem_xRaTw8neV5XOW3tNlLsgTQ -
I had a knock on my door the other day and rarely open the door to strangers. But these two wouldn't leave the doorstep, they knocked really hard a few times, quite loudly. I then looked out my window and spoke through the closed window and then felt safe enough to open the door, my app for the Ring doorbell wasn't active. Then I got a little shook because their missionary tags were in another language so then I got nervous. But they spoke English and they said they wanted to meet the person with a Ukrainian flag in their yard. I have had it up for quite some time. And proceeded to tell me, after I embarrassed myself when I said I supported the Ukrainians and not Russia, told me one was from Russia and the other from Ukraine! They were wondering if I was from Ukraine, I probably disappointed them when I told them no, but that I supported Ukraine. They were very nice, didn't ask me if I was a member or if I wanted to hear a message, nothing! But I did say something like they're welcome to come back or if they needed something, can't remember now. So the first time I've heard of church wards like that in the county I live in. Very interesting, thought I'd share for fun.

A Secular Theory of Where the BoM Came From
Tacenda replied to Analytics's topic in General Discussions
A thought that came when first in my crisis of faith after finding things in church history I hadn't known was the ability of those people in Joseph Smith's day were amazing. They didn't have the technology to distract them. They were amazing poets, and writers. That's one way Joseph and whomever, helped write the BoM. People in this day and age, worked in the fields etc. of course, and other jobs, but with no TV etc. I think one could do amazing things with their minds. So that's the one aspect I had of how Joseph was able to put together the BoM. But I'm open to having it be from revelation from God too. -
And has anyone seen Queer Eye on Netflix's last season? I'm so sad it's the last one, all the season's shows have been so amazing in how lives can change for the better. The five LGBTQ men, are such good people doing good. I'm sure in my former years I'd skip over watching this show. Thinking that probably is the case with some on this thread as well. The season 10 this year, is so good along with the rest, but the one I saw called, "Finding Father", is a must see too. But everybody likes different things, I don't care for a lot of Sci Fi stuff, so I get it if people wouldn't have a need to watch.

I listened to the RadioWest podcast: https://radiowest.kuer.org/show/radiowest/2026-02-17/a-controversial-new-apostle-joins-latter-day-saint-leadership Now I know what this thread is about, I hadn't delved into it yet, and I agree why it doesn't sit well with who Pres Oak's pick is.

Kinda reminds me of clubs or clubhouses, usually boys, that start clubs and cut themselves and rub each others blood together. I'm old, so luckily or hopefully the youth don't do this anymore. And another thing, this shows just how immature these men are and women that help, are.

Could that be the Iran war possibly that may be coming? I saw recently that it's Israel's leader that is telling Trump to start that. Maybe true or maybe not. Sure hope not!
