  1. You can argue about some of the details but do you deny that the number slaves today (be it for sex or drudgery or others) is greater than any time in previous millenniums? Granted that the percentage of slaves may have been greater in the past than today? The amount of trafficking might run to hundreds of billions per year: From youth underground website From Los Angeles Porn Industry The above are just part of the tip of the iceberg.
  2. My wife and I watched it last night. A very powerful and compelling movie. It looks to be a terrifying environment to break into. Takes an enormous effort to gain the necessary intelligence to even begin planning a rescue operation.
  3. This is the second time for me seeing the depiction of the "book with the seven seals". The first time I wondered if it would make more sense for the book to have seven sections, each with its own seal?
  4. It was not clear to me but did the LDS PR guy get to see a private screening of the "epic" ? Maybe the Church is a little more "gun shy" as a result of the Tim Ballard controversy?
  5. It is a progressive process for both righteousness and wickedness. If a person commits a wrong, he may feel naughty, daring or whatever. He might take delight in it. If that person keeps doing the wrong thing, he will branch out to more serious sins and feel justified with them. It becomes a downward spiral and the person begins to walk in darkness at noonday. Same thing happened with Cain. He was taught correct principles by Adam and Eve and even talked with God. But he dabbled a little bit with Lucifer and progressively became more "deranged". To the point of committing the brazen murder of his brother Abel. 2 Ne 26:22 And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the founder of all these things; yea, the founder of murder, and works of darkness; yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords forever. Psalms 2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. Psalms 129:4 The Lord is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked. Proverbs 5:22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
  6. I took a look at Google Maps. It appears that the temple site can be accessed by Skyline Drive and then Olive Glenn Drive. Is that correct? Cody has over 10K population heavily latticed with streets. The temple site is on the south west corner on the edge of the "boonies". Looks to me that the city really should not have a problem with the temple. It appears to have plenty of room for residentials to be built around it?
  7. Both above statements very incoherent. Holodomor actually did happen. Millions of Ukrainians died needlessly due to the brutality of oppressive totalitarian regime.
  8. I have read them and do NOT discount them. Simply relieved that they have consented to go public. I would agree that it is looking bad for TB.
  9. Only a totalitarian would say this. Witness what happened in early 20th century: The kulaks in Russia were rich farmers. They were well to do peasants who owned their own land and were considered to be the landlords of rural Russia. They owned large farms, headed several cattles and horses, and were financially capable of employing hired labour and leasing land. They were subjected to wide-spread severe famine artificially imposed by Bolshevics.
  10. In court, fairness does not always prevail. In public, the accused can be subjected to a living hell (sometimes by the dominant media ramped up to a frenzy of hate). Damned if you do, damned if you don't. There is too frequently a shocking lack of due process in many areas of society.
  11. The accused has the right to face the accusers. Plus have the right to examine all the evidences for and against.
  12. It is difficult to determine if you actually have read his column? Do you agree or disagree with the many examples he has illustrated in his column?
  13. It is very difficult to "interpret" your statement. You said "co-opting a positive word" - are you referring to terms like woke, wokiest, wokist, etc? If so, please explain how they are being "co-opted". Also, please explain your definition of wokism and why you think it is positive. What are the ways it is being interpreted in a "warped" way. 14. Victor Davis Hanson has an excellent perspective on the vast panoply of the culture. Have a look at his column: https://www.independent.org/news/article.asp?id=13968&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAgeeqBhBAEiwAoDDhnylpTe95HiG8S1dTQ_hVR6tadJw4cD2Tb0D-rRRrkfvyHWsMz59JNxoCi_QQAvD_BwE
  15. Wokist Urban Dictionary https://www.urbandictionary.com › define › term=Wo... A person who satirically takes supposed "left-wing ideology" to its extremes. Based on the word "leftist," popularized among left-wing commentators as a ...
  16. There is already too much wokist insanity in the culture. Dabbling in these kinds of games will only make it worse.
  17. Does your wife keep the Word of Wisdom?
  18. Good to know. Philadelphia - a greek compound word meaning brotherly love.
  19. I agree with the concept of progression. All of us were intelligences before we became spirit children of [a] Heavenly Parents. The first time intelligences obtained the priesthood was when they entered into covenants for admittance into the First Estate to become spirit children. Therefore the Gods did NOT have the priesthood prior to obtaining the First Estate. BUT the priesthood has ALWAYS existed. There was no first generation of God that did the first implementation of the Plan of Happiness. There was no beginning to the succession of implementations of the Plan of Happiness. And there will be NO end to this succession.
  20. It would be interesting to know what prompted the investigation by Davis County. Since the matter is said to be "closed", will there be a report released to the public? @smac97 is there some way to find out?
  21. From the link: “Great miracles were recorded although the adversary fought back,” said Sister Iniembe Hembadoon Linda of the Makurdi District. “We overcame all our challenges by the power of the Holy Ghost, who actually led this great work.” There are 5 wards in Makurdi which has a population of roughly 365,000.
  22. Wow. Looks like she has a better understanding of her husband than he of her!
  23. Does the book discuss what the issues were that led to social reform? Were the people concerned with robber barons, unfair bankers, oppressive bureaucrats? I wonder if people were migrating westward because of economic disasters (like the Smith family fleeing failed farms due to unusually cold climate).
  24. Isn't that analogous to waving white handkerchief during temple dedications? In the OT Mosaic Law it is indicated that on Nisan 10 a paschal lamb meeting all the requirements is selected and "set apart". On Nisan 14 it was sacrificed. Nisan 10 corresponds to Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem (being chosen by the people on Sunday). The evening of Nisan 14 was the Last Supper preliminary to His agonizing ordeal in the Garden of Gethsemane all night Thursday (according to Jewish customs, the day "ended" at sundown so it could have been Friday all that night with the crucifixion occurring in the following daytime it still being Friday).
