Homeless "Problem"? How about Entire CITIES of people suddenly homeless?

I don't know the answer- there are centers created by citizens being set up all over Los Angeles- just citizens bringing extra clothing and food to be given to those in need.   And the irony is that many of these folks may be quite wealthy- yet they are homeless at least for now.   Fire insurance is difficult to obtain here because of this existent threat, and IF you can buy it, it will be extremely expensive.

And the irony is that people who usually are PROVIDERS- like owners of stores, plumbers, others in service businesses and simple merchants, grocers etc- are themselves ALSO homeless and without businesses.

The folks to whom one might go to correct YOUR condition, is now in the same jam you are in!   Some are creating "pop up" help centers where one who has virtually nothing can find donated food clothing etc. in a parking lot and in burnt-out areas where the stores used to be!

The whole thing is quite surreal.

And now there are looters.

It is almost as if the "Last Days" are upon us.

Maybe they are.

Such a tragedy. Meanwhile, here in Missouri, we are completely snowed in. Obviously our "problem" here is very insignificant in comparison. Where are all the LA folks going? It seems like the only option you have is to pack your car as fast as you can and flee.

I lived in Missouri for seven years back in the 1970s.  Great place then.  Came back for a visit many years later, and found that the Kansas City metroplex had gown enormously.  Just like L.A.  Meantime, so many small towns in middle America have been abandoned.

I'm grateful to be about 30 miles outside of St. Louis. We are close enough to the city to have access to anything we need, but far enough out to not be in the city itself.

More so now that they've announced that the Kennedy fire was intentionally sought and someone else (if I understand correctly) was apprehended trying to start another by citizens.)

Yep- they literally brought in the National Guard to augment the police.  A lot of the looting is not among the ruins- I mean who wants a burnt old couch?  The looters go for the homes that were spared by the firestorms, but their occupants have decided not to move back in until the danger is fully gone.

We just need some missionaries to tell the looters and arsonists that they are doing wrong, I guess.  I mean they are so good at making new friends and all!

Yes, that's about it.

There are locations bringing people together who are donating stuff for the homeless- almost like an outdoor "Walmart"- providing everything you can imagine homeless folks might need- clothes, food, diapers, kitty litter, dog food, and on and on.  - Just from those who ended up better, helping those who ended up worse.

It's incredible to see!

I'm sorry the people in your area are going through it. The loss of lives, homes, everything people have is so incredibly hard on them. So much will continue with health problems caused by the fire and dealing with it emotionally and mentally even if they financially can deal with it.  I'm glad there are people willing to help.
