I'm so sorry for you and your family.

I don't want to get anything shut down, but I'm pretty sure every last comment I could make after that would be at least somewhat political.

I do hope that one day we can find a path that allows for boundaries and legal pathways for good people like your SIL to come in and stay.

Someone I know was an illegal immigrant, it took her about 22 years to get citizenship. Some of her family it took longer. Her dad ended up getting deported and blacklisted from the U.S. (after ignorantly committing a felony regarding business money) and has lived in his home country for over a decade despite many appeals to the U.S. Federal and State governments to be allowed to visit. When she was growing up the govt didn't do anything for illegals so she grew up dirt poor. The immigration system is awful, I wish there was more of a focus on streamlining and optimizing the system instead of a focus on whether or not to care about someone's immigration status.

They are living the best they can and my husband and I will always be back ups if they ever need it. But they rarely ask for help. They live well within their means and luckily they've not had to have health insurance for my son in law. My daughter works and her insurance is just for she and their two sons. They are in a manufactured home, but they are happy, I'm grateful for the park they're at being a little safer than in a neighborhood in sometimes a rough area. :)

I wish the very best for your family, Tacenda.  😕 I believe there are many people who were afraid of this very situation.

Thanks mtomm, very kind of you. :) I'm trying to accept things and not get bogged down by thinking about it so much.

Hi Tacenda

I have only just come across this posting. Hope all works out for your son in law.

Ugh, I hate this. Years of these stories ahead.

Yes, and I bet the church isn't happy about it too.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a problem everywhere. Honest people trying to do the right thing. Always seem to get a rough time.
