There aren’t too many details (I can’t even find the name of his girlfriend) other than she is 28 and he is 20. Supposedly they went to prom together in high school, and that is where the (alleged) grooming began. A majority of this comes from tweets made by the brother and the mother (found in the link). One made by his sister (I think), claiming that when she was 25, she was trying to get him to propose. The family asserts that the story has been swept under the rug, and that they’ve tried to get this out there the last two years.

My guess is there are plenty of 26 and even 28 year old NBA players dating 20 year old women. If that was the only issue, big double standard. They got engaged 4 months ago. For me the issue was she started dating him apparently according to her FB page halfway through his senior year in high school (there is a one year anniversary FB post in December _____, though that may have been when they first met). He was 18 so it was legal, just on the creepy side of things for a college grad (I think) to be dating a high schooler. If the family is criticizing his choice in partner and even willing to go public with the criticism, turning his life into a soap opera for the public, I can see why he may have stopped talking to them. He has pressure coming from all directions. A fiancé older than him. A dysfunctional family. All the pressure and influences that come from being in the NBA. I hope there is someone in his life watching out for him. 4

You mean being nice and teaching them the Restored Gospel? Has it ever occurred to them he cut off contact because they're toxic and do stuff like this? There isn’t enough data to know who, if anyone, is actually helping the kid. The brother’s expectation that Duke should have broken up the relationship or something like that is also pretty weird. 2
