Things to Come? 2 Nephi 13:16-26--> D&C 112:23-26?

Keep reading... I acknowledged it was a poor example.

I have no issue with the example, and garments may well become smaller. I do think that the Church is taking a more principle-based approach to the standards of a Zion culture than a rules-based one, and that this is fitting for the world we live in today and the widely diverse places in which the Church us set up. The needed alignment between the exercise of the keys of the kingdom and the scriptures is spiritual, not literal. The are many specific cultural references in them that do not apply today (e.g., Paul comes to mind), but the underlying godly principles still apply.

I think D&C 112:27 - 28 helps me frame a good attitude toward how to address what we see going on in our Church units, befitting our responsibility in the kingdom and the keys we are given to exercise. We can all be the people in verse 29 in any case.

The garment example kinda stinks 🦨 my bad. My point is if there is no standard where we can say " Here, and no further!" - we are danger of being the guy so open minded his brain falls out.🤕

P.S. I wouldn't mind the long sleeve option personally 🥵

I kinda wish @JLHPROF were here. He might have some things to add that you’d appreciate.

I think everybody is missing my point. I'm debating about whether to continue. This is obviously creating contention, which wasn't my intention. 🎶

I thought it would led to a discussion about latter day prophecy, not women's clothing and third world pollution (which is bad and prophesied also.)

Contention contention what's my intention....

;) (you might be too young to understand my joke)

Don't give up on this post/topic, I think it's just that people want to get the nitty gritty of you're question. Hope you stick around!

They can't seem to get past the women's apparel thing? Women's clothing has nothing to do with my point.

Also, I'm not speaking about the corporate (?) Church but the general membership.

Isaiah was warning the people of his day.

I think this is Juliann’s point.   Isaiah was warning his people, not us.

Doesn’t mean we can’t learn from their example.

added:  I see she pointed it out herself.

I am suspicious of the approach that there is inherent virtue that is leeched away by not doing “the right thing” or worse that it is lost by being around the wrong people. It implies that we were good enough until we got worldly. Instead of seeing outselves as bastions of virtue susceptible to taint wouldn’t it make more sense to actively cultivate virtue?
