Honorary Temple Recommend

Hey rodheadlee, just checking in. Wanted to share a bit about my hubby. He's dealing with stomach issues that he's had on and off for years. It's been the last little while that it's become really bad. On top of that he had gum grafts yesterday on one half of his mouth, 11 teeth I believe. Well, I called a hypnotherapist last week because I was hoping it would help him going forward with this surgery yesterday, for anxiety. He was able to go to two sessions, it was pricey. Well it didn't work so far, but maybe he needs to keep going. Or maybe get some other treatment. He's had MRI, CT scans. We've scheduled another endoscopy and colonoscopy for January. I now feel bad I suggested hypnotherapy because I'm wondering if it's a huge expense for you if you looked into it. Or have already tried it. Just a few minutes ago I stumbled across a Tik Tok that mentions nicotine gum for long haul covid. It supposedly helps with taste and smell. My husband and I have a friend that has almost zero smell and taste from covid, so I was interested. The article mentions many benefits of nicotine patches and gum. Who knew? Not me! Anyway, sorry for the novel, I was wondering about those that just use nicotine patches or gum instead of smoking, if that will get you a temple recommend. Wondered if you've been able to do that. I hope you're doing well in your extreme hurdle of quitting.

ETA: I feel rotten for thinking this but I believe my husband has high anxiety and that it affects his stomach. He gets mad at me all the time for suggesting this. He'll say to friends or family that I think it's all in his head. But he won't listen when I say over and over that I know it's physical that his stomach hurts, but that I wonder if anxiety about many things, could cause the pain.

Best wishes, rodheadlee!

Here's the article I read up on nicotine. Is it any wonder why people are addicted to cigarettes?!?!

Good question.  You would think so since the ingredient that is only identified is tobacco.

I wonder if they can be used till so many hours before surgery as well. I know they want you to stop smoking as it greatly drops the likelihood you get put on a ventilator or other complications, but not sure of the effect on the rest of the body.   Nicotine restricted blood flow, iirc, so would have to be stopped at some point.

Thank Tacenda. I use nicotine lozenges they definitely help. It's only when I get in a high stress situation that I want to smoke a cigarette. With a patch you cannot smoke or you will OD on nicotine. With the lozenges or the gum you can smoke in between which isn't necessarily a good thing. Right now I'm fighting the bed bug battle from h e double hockey sticks. We are winning but it's a long battle. So yes I am smoking a cigarette as I post this. I plan on zero cigarettes tomorrow to start the month. I will probably put on a patch so I cannot smoke. Thanks for your post and I hope your husband finds out what's wrong and gets better.

I would like to know why God created bed bugs and what their natural enemy is.

So today is the actual anniversary day. 50 years ago today we are on our way to Las Vegas to get a $2 wedding ceremony. It's amazing it only took me 50 years to figure out what a dozen roses does. I couldn't believe how happy my wife was.

It can happen to anyone, bed bugs. One of my worst fears, lol.

Happy Anniversary by the way. You have a very patient wife to wait for those roses. :) I don't get flowers but that's because I tell my husband they just die. But inside, I think I'd like it on occasion. Wow, 50 years is so awesome, and such humble beginnings. I kind of think it's romantic, doing the Vegas wedding without all the pressure with guests, etc. Just the two of you! 🌹

In my view God created them as mild mannered bugs to keep beds clean of dead skin and all, but Satan warped them into the pooping, biting beasts they are now. ;)

As far as natural enemies….a case of the cure is worse I think, except maybe cockroaches, though I don’t want cockroaches in my bed either.

Shortlist of bed bug predators are:

Argentine Ants.

Red Imported Fire Ants.

Pharaoh Ants.

American Cockroaches.

Thanatus Flavidus Spiders.

House Centipedes.

The Masked Hunter also known as the Masked Bed Bug Hunter.

Good luck, I would be going through the roof if we had bed bugs…

I used to prefer books and power tools, but nowadays flowers are more my speed.  I have figured out I prefer one or two flower types in the bouquet, the ones with all sorts of flowers are too ‘busy’ for me.  I want ‘peacefulness’ when I look at flowers more than ‘interesting’.

One of my daughters works for a floral supply store and she'll bring me flowers out of the dumpsters where she delivers sometimes. I've found that carnations last the longest. But I've yet to get roses on those dumpster dives, so maybe they last just as long.

Happy anniversary Rod!

Bedbugs are awful.  I know as we experienced them ourselves.  Good luck.

Have you thought of meditation for your stress? I know it helps me a lot.
