Has anybody looked into the background of this individual? His accomplishment in such a short amount of time astounds me, and he certainly does not shy away from revealing his Christian faith to his audience by frequently citing from the Bible during his performances.

All I know is I have a couple of sons that sure like him. But I'm thinking they just hate our government and I'm trying to sway them from that and realizing a government is still needed and sure there are corrupted people in it but don't throw it away because once you do that you will have a dictator and sure it's easier to not have to vote and think about who we want in there to do the best job, and actually show up to vote and have to think about things and so on and so on. Scary how quickly people want to throw democracy away. Not saying the dude does, but it's like the youth of today don't understand how important the constitution is, and how easily it could go away and what then.

Song summary: Rich men are awful. People like me are picked on. Fat people shouldn't be helped by the government.

Eww…(and that is the clean radio edit?)

In a video explaining his songwriting, Anthony said that his lyrics are attempting to speak for the working class and that he aspires to be a "voice for those people", noting that "whatever it is they're doing, they can't quite get ahead".[13] Anthony has described his politics as "dead center".[9]

Anthony said that his song has been "weaponized" by the right and the left: "I see the right trying to characterise me as one of their own. And I see the left trying to discredit me, I guess in retaliation."[28] He said the people he wrote about in the song have "done everything they can in the last two weeks to make me look like a fool, to spin my words, to try to stick me in a political bucket." He also addressed those who interpreted the song as "an attack against the poor", saying that "all of my songs that reference class defend the poor". He said of "Rich Men": "30-some million people understood what I was saying, but it only takes a few to try to derail the train, to try to send out false narratives."[26]

I have no problem with his purpose, his delivery is rather us vs them though.  False narratives are sometimes the result of poorly communicated ideas.

I guess?  I didn't realize there were 2 versions. I just couldn't understand all his words (the words that came after someone being 5'3 and 300 pounds) so I googled the lyrics.

Isn't Ed Sheeran a redhead? I'll stick with him instead.

Heck, even the Judds would be an improvement (and I hate country music with a passion). ;)

This guy is killin it! He's not afraid to read from the Bible while entertaining an audience, it's so refreshing.

Yeah, road killin it. :bad:

Kidding. I know he's popular (for now), but I don't care for his music - at least, what little I've heard of it.

I tend to take the opposite view. While it's certainly possible he's being sincere, my general presumption is that overt, performative expressions of Christianity such as this are calculated to appeal to a certain audience rather than be genuine expressions of personal faith.

I know that face well, the brown/blond hair with the red facial hair. Just like I was until it all turned grey, and almost everyone can play, sing, etc. Same eye color, looks like many if not most of my cousins, all from the lower and upper Appalachian Mountains. My youngest finally got rid of his ginger beard.
