Bassil Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 To understand life force we need to understand what is life first. Knowing life is simple and straightforward. Life is aspects. It is the aspect of the living beings' activities. It's the result of our actions. If every living being stopped to act or affecting the surrounding anyway, life as we know would disappear. For we know life as aspects, aspects of our activities. If the bird starts to sing, the dog starts to park, and the fish bursts out of the river surface reflecting the sun's rays off its silvery skin, life starts too. You are a spirit. You are not a body. When you realize that you are a spirit and know that you are a spiritual being, you get born again. For you realized what truly you are. Spirit has the ability to create two things: thoughts and efforts (actions.) When a spirit first came into encounter with the material world it does nothing. It receives the act of the physical world against itself. And its first response is to create impressions (thoughts) into Theta (the thoughts field.) Thoughts, which create an identity for that spirit, would influence the spirit into doing actions against the physical world. Thoughts are behind our actions and behavior. They are behind our activities. Though the spirit is who actually creates those actions, the spirit wouldn't be able to do it without the influences of its thoughts. Thoughts are behind the activities that are the aspects of life, that are life. Thoughts are the Life Force. 1

mfbukowski Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 (edited) How does one show that these are "rational thoughts" or "true"? That question is probably be seen as irrelevant. Usually most metaphysics is tied to some kind of epistemology. It usually has a justification tool built into the metaphysics. It is believed generally that scientific statements "represent" or "correspond" to the world beyond language, the "real world" we all know and see. Plato would say that reality as we experience it is an illusion reflecting the real world of ideas. Only ideas and forms are real. Do these ideas arise from reason at all, or do they have a philosophical basis? They sound pretty Platonic to me. If they don't that's fine for one person to see their lives that way, if it gives them peace, but it could lead to communication problems. They might be seen as words hanging in space without a connection to human experience. A rose is a rose is a rose. But how does that help us? Edited August 20, 2023 by mfbukowski

Along this line of thinking, are we aspects of God? We are the result of God's actions (the act of creation). If God starts to create, life starts too. 2 hours ago, Bassil said: Thoughts are behind the activities that are the aspects of life, that are life. Thoughts are the Life Force. I think we probably started as thoughts of God, and likewise what we create starts out as our thoughts. I'll have to ponder a bit on the concept that "Thoughts are the Life Force". It is a new way of looking at things... a new thought, for me anyway... a new aspect of the life force? One implication seems to be that our thoughts are immensely powerful. Thank you Bassil. You've given me something to think about!! Edited August 20, 2023 by manol

When God thought the existence, it thought it into Theta (the thoughts field.) Again, not according to the only available records of God creating things. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 ¶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. It was by the word of God that things came into being. Psalms 33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. So much so that the principle entered popular culture as Mormon teachings also expand further on the above scripture in Psalms: Abraham 4:17 And the Gods set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to cause to divide the light from the darkness. 18 And the Gods watched those things which they had ordered until they obeyed. God created by speaking and the very elements obeyed his command. 1

I apologize that many won’t know what I am talking about… I loved the pictures of the creation in the temple that partially showed blueprint/drafting marks…brilliant visual portrayal of the concept of the act of creation being in stages. You can believe whatever you want. All God needs from us is a good heart. If we are good people, then everything is good. God created us by thinking or by words all this isn't required. Goodness is required. Trust that.
Tacenda Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I appreciate Bassil's research, we in the church (active member or not) surely can gain from outside knowledge and good. Here's the quote: President Gordon B. Hinckley: "Let me say that we appreciate the truth in all churches and the good which they do. We say to the people, in effect, you bring with you all the good that you have, and then let us see if we can add to it. That is the spirit of this work. That is the essence of our missionary service."

Can you describe this “thoughts field” in more detail? Is it a “place” where time exists as it does here (linear time with distinct past, present, and future)? Do we have separate and individual thoughts fields, or is there just one really big thoughts field, or are there multiple interconnected thoughts fields? Is the thoughts field more “real”, or less “real”, than this physical-world existence? Is the thoughts field something that exists primarily on a different dimension (or dimensions) from our current physical-world existence? Is there any particular utility or usefulness (for us here and now) that comes from being aware of the thoughts field theoretically existing? 1 hour ago, Bassil said: Without Theta [the thoughts field], there would be no thoughts. So if I understand correctly (which I do not!!), thoughts are created into the thoughts field, but without the thoughts field there would be no thoughts. Is there a back-and-forth "flow" between our thoughts and the thoughts field? Does one give rise to the other? Or are they both the same thing in some sense? Edited August 21, 2023 by manol 1
