Discovery of Photograph of Joseph Smith? Part II

Here’s a “cleaned up” rendition of the recently discovered daguerreotype that helps the viewer get a better idea of how the prophet actually appeared (if the daguerreotype actually is a photograph of the prophet). Daguerreotypes produce an incorrect reverse image, and in this correctly oriented image we see that the prophet actually parted his hair on the right.

Try conducting a little experiment with this portrait: place your thumbs over both sides of the head, to hide from view the protruding curls, and you’ll see the ruggedly handsome face of a much more modern looking man. If one were to see this man walking down the street with a modern haircut and a nice suit he would look singularly impressive! I believe the main reason why some think this man looks weird is because of those prominent curls, but when the curls are removed a very different impression of the man’s personality is conveyed.

The crease between his eyes is on the opposite side as the daguerreotype isn't it?

The incorrectly oriented original daguerreotype image has crease over his left eye, when it’s actually over his right eye.

As an aside, you opined that in this daguerreotype the prophet doesn’t have the gentle angelic look of the previous depictions. That may or may not be true, but one thing’s for sure, in this photo he certainly does look like the powerful, masculine athlete who never lost a wrestling match.

those two images look different though

I would like others’ opinions if these are two different faces or not…if not, it might help explain why I have a hard time remembering faces as they look quite different to me for some reason, especially the eyes.

To me there is a resemblance of Jeffrey Epstein. I thought of it, when I first saw the image of the real Joseph Smith clear back when it came out. But I sometimes compare people I know with well known people such as celebrities, actresses/actors by either their appearance or personality. Just a weird habit I have, don't mean to be derogatory though.

You can’t see any musculature at all.
