Why is every thread about John Dehlin nuked?

Anyway, here's a well-made documentary on him.

https://youtu.be/MCLZ4vWcGEU

The video you posted is nearly two years old, and based on the title, I would argue the information provided is meaningless because John Dehlin is still alive and well. His YouTube channel had 60,000 subscribers two years ago and currently has 147000. Why would you publish about a two-year-old video that prophesies John Dehlin's demise while he's gaining popularity?

Threads about him don’t usually last long because he is a polarizing figure (even among ex Mormons).

And Nemesis, posted that no one is allowed to post his website on this board as well.

He always says his whole reason of doing his podcasts is to make sure people know what they're getting upfront, history and all, before joining and his whole motive for doing what he does. And I guess he's concerned about those that leave having a community and then a group called Thrive is born from it. I've not been able to jump in and enjoy those events yet.

What do you think about allegations of sexual assault, sexist compensation practices, silencing female accusers, and grift against him?

There is one person who is even more hatefull about the LDS church Then John Dehlin in the anti Mormon scene. And that person is Exmo Lex. She was also a guest on Dehlins podcast once. She's so hatefull that i even kinda dislike her.

I also have the feeling that she makes so much hate video's now because she get attention from it. And get a bunch of fews.

Probably why I don't trust him very much, and not my favorite podcast, except he does tend to get some people I like to listen to because I feel like they went through what I did. ETA: @Hamilton Porter why use the Midnight Mormons video, they are so over the top. Even Jim Bennett would agree.

The midnight Mormons and JD seem like opposite sides to the same coin.

What about you? What do you think of John Dehlin's alleged sexual assault, sexist compensation practices, grift, and silencing his female accusers by calling them crazy.

Yes.  And he also

so that his listeners and donors "know what they're getting upfront, history and all," before listening to his podcasts, taking his advice, giving him money, and so on.

Or . . . not.

Thanks,

And  when did you stop killing puppies?

This is a good answer to the original question.  But I guess we will just continue to look for controversial topics just for the sake of debate.  Carry on then.

What do you think of this letter campaign spearheaded by Kate Kelly, founder of Ordain Women?

Quote

John Dehlin has long used Mormon and x-Mormon women to mask his bad behavior.

He has used our talents, time, movements and reputation to bolster his brand and enrich himself. He takes advantage of vulnerable people in crisis, who are in legitimate need of help and community. When women come forward with critiques of his behavior or allegations of wrongdoing he retaliates by lashing out at them and attempting to publicly discredit them.

We aren’t people who protect the Mormon Church, and we also don’t protect men who put the community at risk— whether they are Mormon or not.

We have had enough.

Many of us have worked with him in the past, and want to make clear that we no longer do and don’t encourage any other women to do so. It’s not safe. We refuse to be used as a mask for abuse.

We think it’s a better use of everyone’s time and investment to support other folks building community and providing resources for exiting Mormonism. If you need therapy, you should seek out a professional who is actually licensed by the state to provide those services. If you need community (as we all do), you should seek out people who don’t regularly tear down women who disagree with them. It’s time we reconsider giving so much energy and support to someone who has the potential to do so much harm.

John Dehlin often attempts to paint criticism as an “attack” and is an expert at making himself the victim.

This is not an attack. It’s a clarification of values. Our values are to support and believe women.

We invite you to do the same.

Another thing about John Dehlin, he doesn't know anything.

He didn't know that Abraham came before Moses in the Bible.

When he interviewed Bart Ehrman, he opened by saying that Bart was one of the few Bible scholars who believed Jesus existed. Bart was like, uhh.....

And then Brent Metcalfe, whom Dehlin had on his show before, piled it on like everyone else. And Dehlin got upset because he supported Metcalfe and he didn't return the support. He's got a massive loyalty complex to couple his narcissism.

Not nearly as significant or troubling as say Joseph Smith, but certainly enough of a pattern for me to avoid him.

Not much.  But I am not a Dehlin apologist. Nor am I an excoriating critic of him.

Joseph Smith never received complaints from the women he was involved with the way Dehlin has.
