Please explain what I did wrong in my thread for it to get closed down before I start another thread. Moderators didn't give me a reason. Scientology can't be discussed? Other religions?

I wondered the same, my post was the last one. Maybe @Nemesis will come on here.

I’m not sure either. My one thought was that maybe the mods thought it was inappropriate for the social hall.

Social Hall is not for debate topics.  You need to get 25 posts and then post it in the main forum or in the news if a news topic

I'm not @Nemesis, nor do I play Him on TV, but this much I know: the Social Hall is for innocuous topics, like introducing oneself if one is new to the forum, requesting prayers on one's or another's behalf, or generally social things.

Your thread on Scientology was none of that. The topic of Scientology is a contentious one, and as you see from the last post on the thread (Tacenda's), it invites contention and anger. The preferred place for such threads is General Discussions. You cannot start  threads there (or News) until you have replied to existing threads 25 times. It's a sort of newbie restriction -- prove that you're not some troll before you're allowed to post unrestricted.

And also note that if you prove to be troublesome in your posts, you might have that privilege rescinded and be put on "Limited" status. If you're Limited, you can't start threads, you have a limitation on how many times you can post in a day, you can't upvote or downvote posts, and your posts can't be upvoted or downvoted. 

As of this, my post, you have posted only 24 times. Reply to some other thread anywhere in MDDB, and you will hit the magic 25. And then you can revisit Scientology in the proper forum, which is General Discussions.

And keep in mind that the Mods will also close threads if they get TOO CONTENTIOUS, or if posters start wars within those threads.
