I will to be honest here... i also don't believe this at all. Now even for sure after the confirmation that i had from my missionaries. No i am sure that i don't believe this theorie. Sometimes people have issues with one another, but you can choose to look past that and still engage in civil discourse here (civil discourse happens on this board all the time). Just always remember, civil discourse is a two way street. 1

You never seen this before? We talk about weird things a newbie doesn't know about, causing some sort of commotion and people seem upset. They get the standard temptation to troll the troll that seems to be causing it, but they lack some tools and experience to actually do so, and so they lash out. Happens everywhere online. From what I have observed in my short time here, people have issues with each other a lot more than sometimes. But you're right that people can choose to look past this and still engage in civil discourse. Which is what I try to do. But it's difficult when people insist on baiting, intentionally twisting words, name calling, personal attacks, character assassination, or just arguing for the heck of it. And this is something that I have had to unfortunately deal with constantly in my short time here. Maybe it's just rookie hazing. 😎 Edited March 6, 2023 by Grug the Neanderthal 1

So basically old timers on this board don't like it when newbies present ideas or take an approach they don't like and so they try to retaliate by trolling, but lack the ability to troll without lashing out and making personal attacks?

No, he is the "newbie" to Mormonism and you are the studied old timer. He already told you he doesn't know what you are talking about. You only look like a troll do to controversial takes on these subject matters which he doesn't know about, you can't be too surprised that if he addresses you at all, it's not going to be anything of substance. Yes, if he can't say any anything nice, he shouldn't say it. You can't point to him as some sort of representative of everyone here, nor indite us all that tolerate him, there isn't a place on the internet without people either just like him or worse. Dude, of course, but like all of us, it takes about 4 years of studying all the LDS scripture books and two hundred of years of LDS history and doctrine, before you too may have strong opinions about the topics. All it takes is time. In the meantime, how about a few lessons in: Discussion Forum Etiquette Stay on topic – Try not to post irrelevant comments or thoughts. Don’t type in ALL CAPS! If you refer to something someone said earlier in the discussion, "quote" a few key lines from their post so that others won't have to go back and figure out which post you’re referring to. Check the most recent comments before you reply to an older comment, since the issue might have already been resolved or opinions may have changed. (Happens to me often). Don’t write anything that sounds angry or sarcastic, even as a joke, because without hearing your tone of voice, your peers might not realize you’re joking. (I'm guilty of this one... recently) Respect the opinions of others. If you feel the need to disagree, do so respectfully and try to acknowledge the valid points in your opponent's argument. No matter how wrong, acknowledge that others are entitled to have their own perspective on the issue. If you reply to a question, make sure your answer is accurate! If you’re not 100% sure, at least say so, or they will not appreciate it. If asking a question, search the internet to see if the answer is obvious or easy to find. Don’t badmouth others or call them stupid. You may disagree with their ideas, but don’t mock the person. Be forgiving. If others make a mistake, don’t badger him or her.
