My mama is from Portugal. My dad is from the Netherlands. They met each other in the late 80s. And later on my mama decided that she wanted to live in the Netherlands and moved in with my dad. Later on they married. In the Netherlands. She learnt the Dutch language. And was a immigrant in the Netherlands. In 1992 a baby was born. ME. In 1994 another baby was born and that was my sister. The biggest part of my life i lived in the Netherlands. My home town was Alkmaar.

Hey dear folks. Today i went to church again and i have talked with a lot of people.  It's really amazing how friendly and calm these people stay in my ward in nearly every situation. No matter what. I love that. Bless them. ✝️  Today i went there for the full 2 hours. 💪

I have been thinking a lot about how I want others to feel loved by me. The last few years I have really felt not a part of my ward and have struggled with some specific people so I have kind of hung back in social interaction. But after what I have been thinking so much about loving others I stepped up to socialize and it felt really good.

Yes that can be hard for you. I understand.

 But some of the people in my ward allready known me very well. I have shared happiness, unfomfortable, upset feelings, proud feelings, confused, mad, even a lot of tears, stubborn, they know that i'm gay. Etc. They have seen it all by now. So you can say that they know me prity well.

Maybe that's not always good. But at least people know what they can expect. But i'm sure that there will be moments that my ward is talking about me sometimes. I just....feel that. But i don't mind. They're prity nice and fine people.

I love your Sunday posts!  It is a pleasure to get these small glimpses into your faith and striving.  You are a good man, Brother Dario!

We did not attend Church this morning; instead we are driving across the northern Midwestern US on our way to northern Michigan.  As my wife drives, I am looking out at the lush green countryside and feeling very grateful for God’s handiwork.  What a beautiful world He has created for us — more than enough to call us to worship — even if only from a  small white car in the middle of fields of Ohio corn.

Yeah...but you know what. The US is just a beautiful country full of the best nature. The best nature I've ever seen. On google maps and sometimes needed to cry. You guys have also such pritty neighberhoods as well. With lovely gardens.

Iv'eaten so much. What a day. I'm thankfull for this church.  To be a part of this church.

That has never happened on a Sunday in my Utah wards, wow! I do think my friend's ward had some goodies that people shared after church on Sundays. I think they call them "linger longers".  https://local.churchofjesuschrist.org/units/germantown-ward/events/linger-longer-7548114363097997971

It happens more often in my awareness if the chapel has only one or two wards in it.  Trying to fit in all the needed meetings when three wards are in a building and then have a dinner/linger longer on top of that can be difficult.  And not too many chapels in Utah have only one or two wards.

Yes everyone was bringing something. Except me. But i didn't know. And normaly i was always gone after the first hour and they didn't had a chance to ask me for a buffet. I can remember that they have once asked me for a christmas buffet though. But at that time i didn't wanna come. 

Single adult ward?? No absolutely not. There are enough couples in my ward. One of them allready has a baby togheter. Oh..and my stake president has also children allready. So no i don't think so. I don't know why we where eating together, but apparently we had a "linger longer" then?? Everyone knew about it. Except me. And we had 2 hours church service yesterday. Instead if one hour church service and the second hour lession.

Yes but we are just one ward in Miratejo. Btw i've moved to Charneca a month ago. My grandma kicked me out. So i've rend a room togheter with other roommates. And i'm actually to far from Miratejo now, and because of that i should go to another ward because i'm not in the boundary anymore. But i didn't wanne go to another ward, in CDC. I didn't wanted to go there. 

So every sunday i'm just traveling back to my ward in Miratejo.

It is hard to leave your ward that has been your home and family even if only for a short time (I hated saying goodbye when we left Russia even though we were a part of the branch for less than 6 months knowing I would likely never see them again).

Yes. I find it hard to let them go. I know them so well now. My stake president have helped me with some thinks in the past. The church was there for me when i needed them.

Yeah that must be hard as well. And you can't travel back and fort from Utah to Moscow every sunday can't you? But traveling from Charneca to Miratejo is not so exhausting. Allthough public transportation is horible here. But... i will do it anyway.... on my own free will. Because It's so worth it. 🌈

They were leery of being open (they had great stone faces), so I only got to know a few of them, mostly women. I liked the women as when they knew who you were, that you were okay they tried hard to help out the helpless foreigners. Very motherly, lol. Got to admit the few men I knew (barely) came across as arrogant, sexist,  and not wanting to waste their time on us nobodies except for one very nice older gentleman I had a great conversation with at a bus stop. The teens and college aged kids once they felt safe with us were very friendly and lots of fun.

This was back in the early 1990’s just after the fall of the Soviet Union, I assume things would likely be different now with their greater experience with foreigners. 

The branch we went to was international because except for my husband who picked up a bit, we didn’t speak any Russian except please and thank you and “that” and it was better for our kids.  We never got any Russian kids to warm up to us, they had obviously been warned not to talk to foreigners.  However, one day we were out in the country at a camping area and my husband got out his kite and suddenly we were swamped with laughing kids. That was a blast.

I only met a few of the Russian branch that also met where we did and that was the Primary Presidency. They were looking for help with the Primary presentation and how to run sharing time. Very good people according to the missionaries. The missionaries seemed to have a lot of fun and good experiences, though it was very hard to get people to talk to them, but they were also followed around quite a bit and once were attack by a gang of youth. They said they got spat on by old women on occasion. 

It was not particularly fun except for a few times and it was frightening at times, but it has helped me be very grateful for the massive gifts of living where I do.  There are so many blessings that some people seem to think they should have with no effort of their own or sacrifices, but just for existing. Nor are they willing to give up some so more could share in the bounty. Their inherent “rights”…me suggesting to them they should put some effort into getting and keeping and especially sharing those blessings because not everyone has them resulted in them being insulted. I could never understand that attitude even before I went to Russia, but it is much easier to see the blessings when you have been in a place where they don’t have them.

I also heart that the mans out there are mostely having a horible attitude. Well...must be quite dissapointing.

I was a child back then. I was born in 1992. 

People at that time where mostely more friendly though.

Offcourse. I believe you immediately. Utah🌈🌲💫 must be heaven in compare with Moscow. I'm chocked that Russia was allready like this so many ears ago. I mean...we speak about 30 years back in time. That's a long time. And i'm a little dissapointment that people where allready having this kind of attitude in the 90s. Well...you will never see me there for sure. I've been closse to Moscow though through my life... 2 times on my vacation to Stockholm. But Sweden is way differend and saver.
