I have really tried to understand why these kinds of ideas appeal to people. I’ve tried to put myself in their shoes, but it just doesn’t work. I can’t make my brain contort such that I could view the world they do.

I, personally, would rather get the shot since that is a much lower chance of fatality. Let's look at the source as well and see how it stacks up. Crawford is generating his numbers by calculating the number of COVID-19 deaths (lagged by 18 days) divided by COVID-19 cases (he calls it the CFR). Using those numbers, he shows that on exactly Dec 8 (the day when the UK started vaccinating), the CFR jumps. That's his proof. He also looks at other countries and sees a similar spike. Using that spike, he calculates his 1/2500 shot deaths. The numbers are interesting but I think they fail to the Simpson's paradox. I'll go over the UK cases specifically. People started getting vaccinated on Dec 8. So, deaths from the vaccines would start to increase 18 days later (Dec 26). But if you look at the death chart, you'll see that the deaths were already climbing. To see it go to https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/deaths?areaType=nation&areaName=England. You'll want to zoom into the fall of 2020. His CFR is also based on a 18 day lag of death. Considering that the first vaccinations were to high risk people, they would probably die a lot sooner than 18 days. So, if you change the numerator in the CFR to be 15 day lag, the increase doesn't fall on Dec 8 anymore. In fact, the increase looks more like a normal increase in deaths because of the new wave. I'm sorry, but I find the evidence lacking. 6

I was quoting the evidence of your original article. You are now referencing different articles that have a completely different method of calculating deaths. So, the two are actually not related. This sounds very much like playing whack-a-mole. I can show you why the statistics in one article is wrong and you'll just bring up a different article. I can go through the trouble of disproving that one and you'll just find a different thing. I'd strongly recommend that you actually go through the statistics. Do not believe headlines. For this specific situation, it is just a video. He doesn't link to any source. He just talks and shows. How about you go through the video and actually find all the sources that he is referencing? Then we can discuss whether he is right or not. 3
