Why I Choose to Stay

There’s a lot of these kinds of posts going around.  I’ll take a crack at one:

I haven’t chosen to stay.  I just haven’t chosen to leave.

Amen

Sounds like my job.  Pretty crappy state to be in.

Life is about making choices,.  Everything we do is a choice.  The time to get out of bed and the time go to bed.  I choose to stay because because I have seen and learned so many different things that tell me that staying is right and the church is correct.   I refuse to fall into the trap of not seeing the forest for the trees.  I work in a lab where we look at QC data points to see if an instrument is working properly.  If I look at a 100 QC runs, there will be some points that will be out of range.  These are outliers and they happen from time to time.  One takes note of these outliers but one does not hyper focus on these outliers and ignore the 90 or more points that were in range.  I look at the broader picture and I take that same approach with the church.   There are issues that are difficult for me to understand. These outliers however don't cause me to become distracted from the bigger picture from all the stuff that has show to me personally the church.

I know there is a higher power or God out there.   When my dad was in the air force during the Korean war., he was stationed in Libya.   The company he was with wanted to take a leave to go to Europe.  When they went to get permission to go, the person giving permission gave them permission to go but he turned to my dad and said "But you can not go."   Did not explain the reasoning and my dad did nothing to merit he not going.  My dad just accepted it and he stayed.   The rest of the company left and their plane crashed in a mountain in Italy.   They were all killed.  My dad should have been on that plane. He should have been killed but for lack of a better reasoning the Lord yanked him out of the group so that he would live.  For what reasons we can guess.  But the fact is the family that I was born into should not exist.  My dad should not have lived to marry his wife and my brothers and sisters and I should not have been born to them    I should have been born into a different family.  But things are as they are as they are.   For me to deny God would be to deny my physical existence.   I stay because I have to.   I have a choice but any other choice is not really legitimate options to me.

In a lifetime of observation of literally hundreds of people, staying is the best and easiest option.
The farther one deviates from what the Lord wants, the tougher life becomes.

Don’t believe me?  Look around………….😪
