cacheman Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 I'm the faculty advisor for a university club that is planning an event. The club is a Muslim student organization, and the purpose of the event is to educate people regarding the purpose and meaning of religious attire. We have participants from Islam, Judaism, and Catholicism, but have not had success getting other Christian organizations involved. When I saw that the LDS church had released the publication discussing similarities between Islam and Mormonism, I realized that I should probably reach out to the local LDS church. I have found a phone number for the local ward, but I would prefer to have an email address so that I could send more info regarding the event. Does anyone know how to find email addresses for local wards or stakes? Thanks! -cacheman

Another option might be to reach out the student institute? Most universities and colleges have church institutes (it shouldn't be hard to find their contact info) and it might be easier to get them involved going that route. longview Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Ask that bishop for the name and email of the Stake level public relations person or something similar. 1

But, I don't believe our campus has an institute, or even an LDS student organization. It looks like I'll probably need to find out who the local bishop is and find their number. I assume the number that comes up for the local ward in a google search is the number for the bishop's office. Is that correct? 1
Calm Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 (edited) It is listed as “ward’s office” in my directory. Looking at the stake directory, is the PR person the Communication Specialist or is that something else and if it is, can someone explain that calling, please. If you went into your stake directory and found the PR person, maybe they would have the email contact info for the university area stake PR person if you are in a different stake than the university. The Mission office over the area might have the info as well and would likely have someone available to answer the phone more often. Edited February 15, 2022 by Calm 1

rpn Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Meetinghouse locator will identify the name of the bishop and their phone number. Sometimes a reverse search can identify an email, but you'll want to be careful not to disturb them at their regular employment. Church stuff is done on their own time. No one staffs the church during the day. A google search can turn up the names of a stake president. the local media outfit search may find a Public Affairs person (probably the person you are looking for) name in some story about church members. BTW, your university probably has an office in student affairs that keeps a chaplain list for various faiths. It might be on there too. 2

In my meetinghouse locator for our area, it says “ward number”…are there places that go directly to the Bishop? My ward number is just one digit different than the Bishop’s number, so don’t know if typo or not. I got a pop up that emails are now only available in the leader resource part. Ours has the Bishop's personal phone number showing in the meetinghouse locator. Although there aren't actually any phones in the building, so that might be why. 1
