Bill “Papa” Lee Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 For years my wife has been having Thanksgiving Dinner on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving, which was wonderful, loud, but wonderful. She (we) started this practice because all our children are married now, and this allows us to all be together, while allowing them to visit other family. So, my son and his family went home to Vernal, Utah to be with his wife’s family. They flew out yesterday, and got to their destination around sunset. Now I read, and my son confirmed that it is supposed to snow a lot today. I am so glad they are there safe and warm. Despite my son living in Utah for seven years, while attending school, he does not like the snow. Of course he loves it here is Atlanta, Georgia, due to the fact that snowfall, light or heavy, comes and goes quickly. Is anyone here traveling to the West and Midwest, if so where? Or another question, will you now be able to still do so, as storms will affect travel almost everywhere North of I-40. I hope for any traveling, you are already home and safe, and are not responding to this thread from an airport. My prayers will be even more sincere for those who will be driving to the North and Midwest. So, please be safe, and may you all have safe travels. My inability to travel very far anymore, is why I ask for this travelogue. This way, I can live vicariously through some of you, who might “travel”, to the Social Forum.

Tacenda Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 This year my Thanksgiving is going to be this coming Sunday, instead of tomorrow. I made this sudden change because of the weather and my children having to go to others homes. One daughter has to go to two other families because of her husband's parents divorce, so really hard to compete. But first time trying it on another day. It may have to be tradition and I'll do it the Sunday before rather than after. But my turkey is already thawed so I'll be cooking two turkeys this year, lol. I wish I was more help on the weather, if I were you I would google the area your son and his family will be. It's snowing very lightly here in Layton. But all the areas are very different. Thursday and Friday it will cover much more and fall heavily possibly. So I'm glad your son made it in sooner! Even if we have it with my son's family on another day, my husband still likes to have a small version on Thursday. MustardSeed Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I was up all night holding my fussy 2 week first grand baby, and I thought the roof would blow off. We are hoping our other kids fly in safely tonight so we can all be together to celebrate this new little one and eat big food, together. Storm threatens to throw a wrench in the works... i hope we can fly home as scheduled Saturday. 2
Garden Girl Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I'm staying here at home... our Lincoln City ward puts on a Thanksgiving dinner every year from 1:00 - 3:00... bishopric provides turkey (we volunteer to roast them), potatoes and gravy... ward members bring side dishes and desserts. I'm taking beautiful grapes, red and green, this year... sometimes I make individual pie crust shells filled with cream cheese and either fruit or veggies... delicious and colorful... We set a beautiful buffet with all types of yummy food/desserts to complement the turkey... and just enjoy each others' company. There is a committee to clean up and reset the room for Sunday... GG 3

GG Growing up in a one room Baptist Church, we had outside tables, it was called, “Dinner on the Grounds”. Although we would do it about once a quarter.
