Yep.  A big, messy, telestial world.

Luke 17:1

Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

Yes, it has crossed my mind and an understanding I toy with sometimes.  But I haven't concluded on it completely because it raises other questions; like how far down do we peel this onion, lol.

I like the idea though. A safe (in comparison to what they went through perhaps, but we can’t sense the safety net or it would defeat the purpose) or at least sacred, ritual place for us to go through the evolutions of our parents and ancestors.  Or like youth who go off into the wilderness for their rite of passage with the simple weapons of an earlier community.

Seems like the unity, comradery, and validation we felt wouldn't be possible w/o the actions of those who littered, dumped trash, etc. which makes it hard for me to discount their actions as entirely negative as they motivated many to do positive acts.

There would still be opportunities for service (yard work, etc.) without the trash. Picking up trash kept your group from serving elsewhere (opportunity cost).
